Three Confirmed Cases Of Coronavirus In New Lenox: Mayor

NEW LENOX, IL — In his third video update to the residents of village of New Lenox, Mayor Tim Baldermann said there are three confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the village. One of the cases is an employee at a memory care center in New Lenox.

"This now has hit our community personally," Baldermann said.

In the video update, Baldermann reminded residents to practice social distancing and maintaining six feet of space between yourself and others.

"I'm calling on all of our stores owners to make sure that this physical distance is maintained by their patrons," Baldermann said. "And if somebody is not following those guidelines, they're not adhering to that distance requirement, that [store owners] say something to them or don't serve them. If you have an issue, let our police department know."

Baldermann also shared that the village has been able to obtain a "large number" of N95 masks for village employees and Silver Cross Hospital.

"We are partnering with Silver Cross Hospital to purchase this equipment," Baldermann said. "We'll be supplying the hospital with some of those masks, as well as our first responders and our frontline employees."

Baldermann also shared that student accomplishments will still be remembered.

"We know that so many of our eighth graders, our high school seniors, and our college seniors, are disappointed that they may not be able to have a prom or graduation ceremony," Baldermann said.

"One way or another, whether it's as planned this year or sometime after this has subsided, we will recognize your accomplishments," he said. "You deserve it.
