150 Cell Phones Looted; Witnesses 'Detain' DUI Driver: Blotter
3 car crashes involved drivers charged with DUI on the Niles Police Blotter for March 16 to 22.

NILES, IL — The following information comes from the Niles Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, criminal charges — representing merely accusations by the state — are often dropped or reduced and all persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARIES
Three car burglaries were reported between midngith and 2 a.m. March 15 in the 9000 block of Grace Avenue. It was not immediately known if anything was taken.

SHOPLIFTING
An employee of the Walmart in the 5600 block of Touhy Avenue reported that a man left the store carrying a flat-screen television and a speaker worth $466 without paying for them, put them in a waiting car and then yelled, "Go! Go!" and fled the scene shortly before 12:30 a.m. on March 20.
SHOPLIFTING
An employee of the Walmart in the 8500 block of Golf Road reported that several men and a woman walked into the store with a blue back. Inside the store, the men were seen taking "about 150 cellphones" from a locked case and putting them in a blue bag before running out of the store, getting into a four-door pickup truck and fleeing the scene around 2 a.m. on March 20.

HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPT
A resident in the 8200 block of North Harlem Avenue called 911 to report that someone two people had broken into their house between 8:20 and 8:30 p.m. on March 19 by forcing open the kitchen door. The resident screamed and the two suspects fled the scene in an older car.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident of the 7200 block of West Monroe Avenue called 911 to report returning home around 10:30 p.m. on March 21 to find their front door open and their home ransacked. Several items including cash were reported stolen.
ARRESTS
Justin L. Daniel, 27, of the 500 block of 10th Avenue in Kankakee, was arrested at 1:32 a.m. on March 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and with a blood alcohol concentration above with 0.08, after he was pulled over for speeding. Police also said he had an open container of booze in the car.
A 22-year-old Cicero man was arrested at 5:35 a.m. on March 15 in the 7500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop for speeding.
A 36-year-old Mundelein man was arrested at 11:28 a.m. on March 15 in the 9100 block of North Greenwood Avenue and charged with driving with a revoked license after he was pulled over for having an expired safety test sticker.
Mildred Washington, 47, of the 8900 block of Bronx Avenue, Skokie, turned herself in to police in connection with a charge of theft of lost of mislaid property.
A 29-year-old Des Plaines woman was arrested at 8:43 p.m. on March 15 in the 8900 block of Greenwood Avenue and charged with driving without a valid license after police pulled her over for child safety seat violations.
Agnieszka Blonska, 39, of the 3300 block of North Neva Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 1:19 a.m. on March 16 at the Jewel-Osco in the 8700 block of Dempster Street after she was seen picking merchandise worth $477.83 from the store, hiding it on her person and walking out of the store. Police said they also found what appeared to a crack pipe on her person. She was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Manuel Bryant, 61, of the 7700 block of North Marshfield Avenue, Chicago, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. on March 16 after he allegedly walked out of the Jewel-Osco in the 5600 block of Touhy Avenue with $237.41 worth of electronic items without paying for them. While being taken into custody police found he had some brass knuckles. He was charged with retail theft and unlawful use of weapons.
Ki J. Shin, 32, of the 2700 block of Kingston Drive, Northbrook, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. on March 17 in the 8300 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop for speeding. Police also found a cannabis vaporizer and charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pedro Miguel-Castillo, 38, of the 500 block of Love Drive in Prospect Heights, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. on March 17 in the 7100 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Police were called to a report of a traffic crash and learned one of the vehicles involved had fled from the scene but had been "detained" by witnesses a few blocks away. Further investigation determined he had been driving drunk and with a revoked license. He was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a revoked license.
A 44-year-old Evanston woman was arrested at 11:23 a.m. on March 20 in the 8800 block of Dempster Street after she was pulled over for using an electronic device while driving and found to have a suspended license and no insurance.
Jung M. Koh, 43, of the 700 block of West Happfield Drive, Arlington Heights, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. on March 19 in the 9600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Someone called 911 to say that he had been seen driving around with no headlights, hit the median and flee the scene. When police arrived, they found him standing outside his car "highly intoxicated." He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.
Kush Agnihotri, 25, of the 7200 block of North Kenneth Avenue, Lincolnwood, was arrested at 2:10 a.m. on March 21 in the 7500 block of North Lehigh Avenue. Police said he was the driver in a one-car crash, and he was found to be intoxicated. Police found also three backs of marijuana and charged him with driving under the influence and possession of cannabis.
Claudia S. Mallow, 29, of the 10000 block of Linda Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. on March 21 in the 7500 block of Croname Road on a DuPage County warrant after police showed up to investigate a traffic crash.
A 21-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested at 10 p.m. on March 21 in the 7800 block of Milwaukee Avenue after he was pulled over in a "traffic safety zone" and found to be driving with illegally tinted windows and a suspended license.
