79-Year-Old Arrested For Attempted Kiss, Fake Lawyer Scam Costs $2,648: Morton Grove Crimes

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following is a record of incidents reported to the Morton Grove Police Department and a list of those arrested. Readers are reminded criminal charges represent merely accusations and all persons arrested are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A resident in the 6600 block of Foster Street reported on June 20 that they had received a call from a purported lawyer alleging their step-son had been arrested and needed money for bond. The resident sent $2,648 via MoneyGram before realizing it was a scam.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A caller told police someone cut the chain link fence to a lumber yard in the 6300 block of Oakton Street on June 21.
THEFT
Someone stole an unlocked bike from the 8700 block of Menard Avenue on June 23.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 8500 block of Mason Avenue reported on June 23 that someone had opened a Chase credit card using their personal information.
THEFT
Tools that had been left in an alley in the 7700 block of Dempster Street for 10 minutes were stolen on June 28, police were told.
ARRESTS
BATTERY
Ismaeil Aguilar, 79, of the 4900 block of Hull Street in Skokie, was arrested June 14 and charged with battery for allegedly wrapping his arms around a woman and attempting to kiss her.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
On June 21, a 32-year-old Chicago man was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested for driving with a suspended license.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
On June 22, a 21-year-old Mundelein man was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested for driving with a suspended license.
LICENSE REVOKED
Gabriel A. Garcia, 49, of the 2500 block of South Homan Avenue in Chicago, was arrested June 27 near the intersection of Dempster and Menard. Police said he was involved in a traffic crash and subsequently arrested for driving with a license that had been revoked for driving under the influence.
