Chicago Woman Dies on Pace Bus
Bus driver in Niles thought the 53-year-old woman was sleeping.

A 53-year-old Chicago woman died last Tuesday after paramedics were unable to revive her on a Pace suburban bus that was traveling through Niles, according to the Niles Herald-Spectator.
The driver of the Niles Free bus, who was employed by the village of Niles and not Pace, told police the woman boarded the bus at 10 a.m. at Touhy and Lehigh avenues and saw her slumped over in her seat as if she were sleeping about 25 minutes later. The driver, who thought the woman was sleeping as passengers sometimes do, contacted his supervisor regarding the situation when the woman was still seen slumped over near the end of the route. He called 911 after hearing the woman gasp.
The woman’s cause of death has not been revealed. Police are awaiting the results of a toxicology report.
