Couple Robbed on ‘Quiet’ Morton Grove Street
A group of young black men confronted the pair near Mango and Cleveland Monday night, according to police.

MORTON GROVE, IL - A man and woman were robbed Monday night on a “quiet” street in Morton Grove.
A 21-year-old man and 20-year-old women were approached by 3-4 men near Mango Avenue and Cleveland Street around 9:55 p.m. and were confronted, according to the Morton Grove Champion. The robbers made off with a cell phone.
The victims described the offenders as “scrawny” black men in their teens or early 20s. They fled southbound on Major Avenue in a dark-colored vehicle.

"That area is quiet," Morton Grove Police Cmdr. Paul Yaras said, noting the rarity of such an incident in this neighborhood of the village.
Police are working with law enforcement in nearby municipalities to see if this is connected to other armed robberies and vehicle theft.
