Good morning neighbors. The half-staff flag notification for Sunday, October 6, today is in honor of our fellow Americans, women and men across our great nation who have given their lives in service to our communities as firefighters.
In accordance with Public Law 107-51 the President of the United States is requested to issue a proclamation for the United States flag to be displayed at half-staff in observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Emmitsburg, Maryland, which will be celebrated Sunday, October 6, 2013.
When issued the proclamation can be found at the White House website. Posting of information is delayed, however, due to the federal government shutdown. As a result, I did not include the link this time as the proclamation is not yet available.
