Gunman Robs Chase Bank In Niles

The FBI are investigating a bank robbery Saturday in Niles where a man with a gun passed a note to a teller, police said.

NILES, IL — An armed man robbed a bank in Niles Saturday afternoon, police said. Shortly after 2 p.m., a man wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses and dark jacket entered the Chase Bank at 7007 W. Dempster St. and walked up to a teller, according to Niles police.

The man handed over a note demanding money and brandished a dark colored handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants, police said. The teller emptied her drawer of a few thousand dollars and the robber took off in an a getaway car and fled east on Dempster Street. No description of the vehicle was immediately available.

The FBI responded to the scene and has taken over the investigation of the incident, according to Niles police.
