MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, criminal charges — representing merely accusations by the state — are often dropped or reduced and all persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
BURGLARIES TO MOTOR VEHICLE

- A resident in the 5700 block of Main Street reported that someone burglarized two vehicles parked on the street, stealing a utility knife and a tote bag containing clothes. Both vehicles were believed to be unlocked and had no signs of forced entry, police said.
- A resident in the 5700 block Cleveland Street reported that a vehicle had been parked in the garage, but it had been unlocked and the garage door was left open on July 24. Police were told someone stole about $10 in change from inside.
- A resident in the 6000 block of Grove Court reported that someone went into an unlocked vehicle and stole an iPhone charger, an iPhone adapter, an auxiliary cord and about $20 worth of change.
- A resident of the 5800 block of Main Street reported that a vehicle had been parked in the driveway unlocked on July 24 when someone stole a wallet with debit and credit cards, a state ID, a driver’s license, a social security card, an insurance card, and $300 in cash.
STOLEN VEHICLE
Someone stole a vehicle that had been parked in an alley in the 8500 block of Austin Avenue on July 24. Police said it was later recovered unoccupied in Niles but did not say it if it was locked or unlocked at the time it was stolen.

THEFT FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE
A resident of the 8900 block of Mansfield Avenue reported that a dining room table that had just been bought a few hours earlier at an estate sale was stolen from the bed of a pickup truck as it was parked in a driveway on July 30.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
When a resident of the 7800 block of Luna Avenue returned home on July 30, the front doors were ajar and showed signs of fresh damage. But nothing was immediately reported missing after the resident walked through the house, according to police.
ARRESTS
BURGLARY
Samuel F. Dellano, 63, of the 1000 block of Marshfield Avenue in Chicago was arrested July 24 and charged with felony burglary and possession of burglary tools. Police said he stole relics and money from St. Martha's Church. He has an Aug. 18 court date.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 26-year-old Des Plaines man was involved in an accident near the intersection of Golf and Harms roads and found to be driving without a license on July 27, police said.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 27-year-old Skokie man was arrested July 28 near the intersection of Dempster and Root streets and charged with misdemeanor speeding and driving with a suspended license. Police said he was doing 75 mph in a 35 mph zone.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 24-year-old Arlington Heights man was arrested on July 30 near the intersection of Church Street and Oriole Avenue after he was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be driving with a suspended license.
NO VALID LICENSE
An 18-year-old Melrose Park man was stopped for a traffic violation near the intersection of Dempster Street and Major Lane and found to be driving without a valid driver's license on July 30.
THEFT
Maria C. Gonzalez, 48, of the 1500 block of North 39th Avenue in Stone Park, was arrested on Aug. 1 after police said she withdrew money from the checking account using the debit card of an elderly person without their permission, according to police.
