Morton Grove Crime: Hand Grenade Found At Home Of Deceased Relative

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following incidents were reported to the Morton Grove police during the past week and some subjects were charged with a crime. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

DUI

On April 15, Celeste M. Taylor, 36, of the 200 block of Patricia Lane in Prospect Heights was was found sleeping inside her vehicle in the 7900 block of Golf. She failed sobriety and was arrested for DUI after failing to provide a breath sample.

HIT & RUN

On April 21, a 44-year-old man of the 2200 block of N. Kostner in Chicago, was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident at Lincoln and Mango. Police contacted suspect and he turned himself in.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On April 27, two men were discovered drinking inside public storage and issued Morton Grove local citations for disorderly conduct. Two Chicago men, a 30-year old of the 5000 block of Troy in Chicago, and a 35-year-old of the 500 block of Custer in Evanston were arrested.

IDENTITY THEFT

On April 22, a complainant on the 7900 block of Arcadia reported someone cashed two fraudulent checks with her information.

THEFT

On April 24, a complainant stated set her cell phone down while making a payment at the Xfinity store at 7927 Golf . She returned a short time later and the phone was stolen.

ATTEMPTED FRAUD

On April 26, a complainant on the 6300 block of Lincoln stated she was selling furniture on Craigslist. A buyer wanted to purchase the items and pay through Pay pal. The offender used a fake Pay pal email and wanted the complainant to return $450 via Money Gram. Complainant became suspicious and was able to halt transaction.

AGGRAVATED ROBBERY

On April 27, a complainant stated 3 male blacks entered the business on the 6000 block of Dempster demanding money and made comments about retrieving a gun and pipe. Offenders stole approximately $30 and a cell phone before fleeing the scene.

BOMB THREAT

On April 28, a complainant was cleaning out the home of a deceased relative and found a hand grenade in the 5800 block of Reba. The Cook County bomb squad responded and took possession of the grenade.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

On April 29, a complainant stated someone stole the catalytic converter from his van while it was parked in a condo lot on the 5500 block of Lincoln.

BATTERY

On April 29, an employee stated a male white customer in the 6300 block of Oakton told her she looked sexy and grabbed her buttock.

RETAIL THEFT

On April 29, a male white offender stole a 6000 BTU air conditioner from the 6300 block of Oakton and left in a blue Ford

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

On April 29, Complainant stated someone stole the catalytic converter from his Honda CRV on the 5600 block of Theobald.
