Morton Grove Fire Chief Steps Down
Tom Friel has retired after 31 years with the Morton Grove Fire Department.

MORTON GROVE, IL - The village of Morton Grove has begun its search for a new fire chief.
Fire Chief Thomas Friel stepped down this week as the department’s top official after 31 years with the Morton Grove department and 12 as fire chief, according to the Morton Grove Champion.
"I can honestly say for the eight years that I have been here, you have been my mentor, and I'm sure there are many men and women out there that feel the same way," Trustee Bill Grear said this week in proclaiming Thursday, Aug. 11 as “Chief Tom Friel Day.”

Until a full-time replacement for Friel is named, three district chiefs will serve in the interim basis on a rotation.
