Victim In Golf Road Fatal Identified

NILES, IL - Niles police have identified the victim who was hit by a car and later killed on Golf Road near Milwaukee Avenue Wednesday night. The family has been notified of the death of Svetlana Gerovaya, 68, of Buffalo Grove.

Gerovaya was hit by a Kia Sorrento around 7:22 p.m. The Kia was traveling eastbound in the inner lane on Golf while the woman was attempting to cross heading northbound. A police officer attempted CPR and other life saving measures were attempted, but Gerovaya was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge less than an hour after the accident.

The driver of the car has cooperated with police and will not be charged. A Niles police statement says he pulled over immediately, called 911 and remained on the scene during rescue efforts.
