Incidents and arrests from the Morton Grove police blotter from Oct. 20 - Oct. 27

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

BIKE THEFT
Someone stole an unlocked bike from a rack on Oct. 15 in the 9400 block of Waukegan Road.

FRAUD
A scammer convinced a resident in the 8600 block of Waukegan Road to pay $300 to remove a computer virus. The resident later also fell victim to a deposit refund scam.

SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Menards noticed an unidentified man and woman steal merchandise in a shopping cart.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone put sugar into the gas tanks of two trucks in the area of Kirk Street and Nagle Avenue sometime prior to Oct. 21.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident of the 7600 block of Palma Lane reported on Oct. 21 that someone had broken into their home through a sliding door and rummaged through the interior.

THEFT TO MOTOR VEHICLE
A resident of the 9200 block of Sayre Avenue reported on Oct. 23 that someone stole the wheels from their vehicle.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 5400 block of Cleveland Street reported on Oct. 25 that they discovered someone had rummaged through their bedroom and stolen pieces of jewelry.


ARRESTS

Hari P. Khanal, 45, of Morton Grove, was arrested around the intersection of Dempster Street and Austin Avenue on Oct. 11 on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Riley Mullens, 19, of the 1100 block of Tyrell Avenue in Park Ridge, was arrested on Oct. 20 at his home and charged with leaving the scene of a property damage crash in the 9100 block of Mason Avenue after striking a parked vehicle and fleeing the scene without providing any information.

Ashur E. Notali, 20, of the 7100 block of Niles Avenue in Niles, was issued a citation on Oct. 21 in the 7200 block of Dempster Street for placing calls and making unspecified threats over the phone.

A 54-year-old Skokie woman was arrested on Oct. 24 in the 8500 block of Lehigh Avenue and charged with with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop.

Peter A. Pantel, 56, of the 5400 block of Cleveland Street in Morton Grove, was arrested on Oct. 26 at his home and charged with violation of an active order of protection that had been placed against him.

Adan Hernandez, 38, of the 1700 block of North Mozart Street in Chicago, was arrested on Oct. 27 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop.

Vinh Nguyen, 47, of the 1000 block of Sanders Road in Northbrook, was arrested on Oct. 27 in the 5600 block of Dempster Street after police made contact with him in a gas station parking lot and determined he was impaired.

A 40-year-old Skokie man was arrested on Oct. 27 at the intersection of Lincoln and Ferris avenues and charged with driving with a suspended license.
