3 Homes Burglarized In Single Night At Same Subdivision: Blotter
Porch pirate suspected; shoplifters abandon iPhones on street; IRS scam attempted: Northbrook Police Department blotter for Feb. 22–March 1

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING ATTEMPT
Staff at the CVS at 936 Willow Road reported around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 that two male shoplifters had tried to take boxes of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals but left the store empty-handed.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1000 block of Woodbine Lane reported around 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 that they arrived home to discover a broken front window.

RETAIL THEFT
Two male shoplifters stole about eight mobile devices from the Apple Store at Northbrook Court around 4:10 p.m. on Feb. 23. Shortly after police learned of the reported theft, four iPhones were found discarded in the street on Lake Coast Road.

- A resident in the 1700 block of Lancaster Way reported at 5:50 p.m. on Feb. 23 that they had gotten a call from their home security company to notify them that an alarm had been activated. The resident returned home to find the back door broken. Nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report.
- Officers conducted a neighborhood check in the 1700 block of Lancaster Way on the evening of Feb. 23 and discovered that someone had broken into a home through a sliding glass door. Officers searched inside and were later told that someone had rummaged through the home and stolen cash.
- A resident of the 1900 block of Beaumont Place reported at 10:50 p.m. on Feb. 23 that they arrived home to find someone had broken in through a rear door and ransacked the interior of their home. Various pieces of property and cash were reported stolen.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone entered a truck parked in the 2200 block of Crabtree Lane prior to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 and stole several items.
IRS SCAM ATTEMPT
A Maple Avenue resident reported on the morning of Feb. 27 that someone had called claiming to be from the IRS. The resident called back and spoke with a person who asked for their personal information. The resident then realized the call was a scam attempt and contacted police. There was no loss reported.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Carriage Lane resident reported several unauthorized charges had been placed on a bank account between Feb. 22 and Feb. 24.
MAIL THEFT?
A resident in the 1500 block of Carol Court reported on the afternoon of Feb. 27 that they had been having problems with mail delivery. The resident said they had not received several important items after being notified that they had been delivered.
ARRESTS
A 28-year-old West Allis, Wisconsin, woman was arrested around 2 a.m. on Feb. 23 and charged with driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Willow Road when officers noticed an equipment violation. Officers learned she had an active bond forfeiture warrant issued in 2015 in DuPage County for failing to appear in court in connection with 2013 suspended license arrest in Elmhurst. She was also issued a citation for driving without headlights when required.
