Accused Package Thieves Arrested In Stolen Car: Blotter

Northbrook Police Department Blotter: Aug. 16 - Aug. 22

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in 0-100 block of North Corner Court reported that someone got into an unlocked car and stole various items during the overnight hours of Aug. 16 to 17.

COUNTERFEIT
An employee of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that two counterfeit bills for an unspecified amount had been used on Aug. 14 on Aug. 18.

VEHICULAR TRESPASSING
A resident in the 2100 block of White Oak Circle reported at 4:47 a.m. on Aug. 20 that they had been awoken by someone inside their car parked in the driveway. Police did not specify whether the car was left unlocked. The door was left open and someone appeared to have rummaged through the interior.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A resident in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported at 10:09 a.m. on Aug. 21 that someone made several unauthorized credit card charges.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of the 2900 block of North Keystone Avenue reported at 10:55 a.m. on Aug. 21 that someone had stolen their mailbox.

VEHICULAR TRESPASSING
A resident in the 2400 block of Royal Ridge Drive reported on the afternoon of Aug. 21 that someone had entered an unlocked car parked in the driveway.

TRESPASSING
A resident in the 900 block of Dundee Road reported that someone had entered a vacant home between July 19 and Aug. 21 and damaged several items inside.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident of the 1700 block of Techny Road reported at 12:10 p.m. on Aug. 23 that saw two men or boys break into a parked car, steal items and leave the scene.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 24-year-old Calumet City woman was arrested at 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 17 near the intersection of Willow and Old Willow road and charged with driving with a suspended license. She was also issued a citation for no taillights.

A 40-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 9:17 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 3100 block of Dundee Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued a citation for improper lighting.

Aaron L. Berkos, 19, of the 600 block of Barron Boulevard in Grayslake, and Caroline P. Johnson, 19, of the 300 block of East Big Horn Drive in Hainesville, were arrested at 6:44 a.m. on Aug. 19 in the 1700 block of Chapel Court and charged with theft and criminal trespassing to a vehicle. Police were called to a report of two people wandering back and forth across Marcee Lane. Officers found a vehicle that had reported stolen from Round Lake Beach. Inside, police found several packages that were found to have been stolen from area porches and the two arrested teens.

Hannah P. Owsiany, 30, of the 800 block of North Virginia Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. on Aug. 20 in the 600 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with criminal damage to property, battery and disorderly conduct. Police were told she was creating a disturbance over a disagreement regarding food and service. She reportedly pushed a person several times and caused damage to a wall when leaving.

A 57-year-old Green Oaks man was arrested at 9:49 a.m. on Aug. 23 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Landwehr Road and Walters Avenue and charged with driving with a revoked license. he was also issued a citation for expired registration.
