Alleged Snapchat Mall Threat Leads To Arrest: Northbrook Crimes

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest does not mean a person is guilty, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
THEFT
A resident of the 1700 block of Tudor Lane reported that someone stole a package that had been delivered to their front porch at 10 a.m. on Jan. 23.

CREDIT CARD THEFT
On Jan. 29, police were told someone stole a wallet in Chicago on Jan. 27 and used it to buy gas on Jan. 28 in the 1900 block of Willow Road in Northbrook.
THEFT
Someone stole an iPhone from a backpack during a basketball game at Glenbrook North High School on Jan. 25, police were told. The phone's location was tracked to Evanston. The Evanston coach was contacted and the phone was eventually returned to its owner.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A motorist parked in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that someone scratched their vehicle at 10:13 a.m. on Jan. 31.
THEFT
A patron at Marshall's in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported shortly after 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 that someone had stolen their cell phone.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Maxwell Gantman, 21, of the 300 block of Dundee Road, Northbrook, was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. on Jan. 27 at Northbrook Court and charged with disorderly conduct after police were told he sent a Snapchat video threatening "an incident" after security personnel there asked him to leave.
Viktoriya Holubyeva, 51, of the 700 block of Barnaby Place, Wheeling, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. on Jan. 27 and charged with driving under the influence after a traffic stop in the 900 block of Dundee Road. She was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
Juarez Gerardo Rosas, 42, of the 600 block of Helen Drive, Northbrook, was arrested at 12:22 a.m. on Jan. 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Cotswold Way and Dundee Road. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
Fernando Carrillo, 32, of the 1200 block of 61st Street, Cicero, was arrested at 11:18 p.m. on Jan. 29 near the intersection of Willow and Landwehr roads following a traffic stop. An officer noticed he was driving a car with an equipment violation, pulled him over and found he had a suspended license and an outstanding arrest warrant from DuPage County for failure to appear in court. He was also ticketed for improper lighting.
A 31-year-old North Chicago man was arrested at 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 30 while driving a truck with a suspended license. Police pulled over the truck because it appeared to be over the weight limit.
Dariusz T. Fraczek, 39, of the 1600 block of Windsor Drive, Arlington Heights, was arrested at 12:39 a.m. on Jan. 31 near the intersection of Sanders Road and Rutgers Lane and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police noticed him speeding, pulled him over and determined he was driving drunk.
A 48-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 6:08 a.m. on Jan. 31 near the intersection of Willow and Shermer roads by police investigating a traffic crash. He was charged with driving with a suspended license and without proof of insurance. He was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a traffic crash.

The Northbrook Police Department is accepting applications for the Annual Citizen Police Academy. The program is for residents and business owners, age 21 and older, and held on eight consecutive Tuesdays, April 3 to May 22, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Graduates of the Citizen Police Academy will have a better understanding of police department functions, officer training and job responsibilities, and become more informed citizens. The class is free; however, the class size is limited to 20 participants.
