Northbrook, IL April 30, 2011 Once again, Glenkirk was chosen by Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership, to receive critical home rehabilitations to 3 of its group homes-Community Integrated Living Facilities-for individuals with developmental disabilities. Rebuilding Together fulfilled its mission of “Bringing volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of homeowners in need” by working at Glenkirk houses in Libertyville, Highland Park and Glenview.
On April 30th, National Rebuilding Day, volunteers from the Libertyville and Northbrook Rotaries, as well as over 70 members from Saints Faith, Hope & Charity Church in Winnetka, rehabbed a bathroom, painted exteriors of the homes, and performed extensive landscaping.
“This unique day on our nation's calendar, occurring on the last Saturday of April, brings out the best of who we are by helping those struggling to be the best versions of themselves, regardless of life's adversities”, commented Alan G. Spector, former Glenkirk CEO and current Keystone Foundation President.
