Black Lives Matter Protesters Honor Floyd, Collect Donations

Monday's Black Lives Matter protest in Northbrook included a march, speakers and donation collection.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Hundreds of people made their way to Northbrook Monday for a Black Lives Matter/Justice for George Floyd protest and march. The event had originally been scheduled for last Friday. Donations for Chicago organizations were collected prior to the protest.

The protest began at 4 p.m. at the corner of Cherry Lane and Western Avenue. The protesters eventually marched to Northbrook Village Hall.

"The goal of Monday's event is to raise money and collect donations for organizations, as well as peacefully protest the systemic racial injustice that currently plagues our nation," Northbrook's Sofia Thompson told Patch prior to the event.
