Car Damaged In GBN Lot; Man Snatches 4 Handbags: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Northbrook Police Blotter for Oct. 11 - Oct. 17

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

SHOPLIFTING
An unidentified man reportedly stole four handbags around 3 p.m. on Oct. 11 from the Nordstrom Rack at 199 Skokie Blvd. No further information was provided.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of Salceda Drive reported someone had damaged their mailbox sometime between Sept. 30 and Oct. 13.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident of the 1100 block of Greenbriar Lane reported that someone had entered their two parked cars through unspecified means during the overnight hours of Oct. 12 to Oct. 13. About $20 and a garage door remote was reported stolen from one of the vehicles.
  • Someone broke into a work van parked in the 2900 block of Macarthur Boulevard between 1 p.m. Oct. 14 and 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 15 and stole various tools.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, police were told someone damaged the mirror of a parked vehicle in the Glenbrook North High School parking lot.

SOCIAL MEDIA SCAM ATTEMPT
A resident of the first block of Court of Hidden Bay reported on the afternoon of Oct. 18 that they had been contacted by an out-of-state friend with a message concerning repaying money. The resident contacted their friend, who informed them the message was a scam related to the hacking of a social media account.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Jose Villegas, 21, of the 900 block of Norman Lane in Wheeling, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the area of Dundee and Sanders roads. He was also cited for improper lane usage.
