Incidents and arrests from the Northbrook Police Blotter for Oct. 4 - Oct. 10

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A Walters Avenue resident reported on the afternoon of Oct. 4 that someone had used one of their credit cards to make unspecified purchases without authorization.

SHOPLIFTING DUO
A staffer at the Goodwill in the 4100 block of Dundee Road reported at 8:26 p.m. on Oct. 4 that three shoplifters, two described as male and one as female, filled up a trio of shopping carts with items and left without paying. They entered a vehicle and left the area. No further descriptions were provided.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Bordeaux Drive resident reported on the afternoon of Oct. 5 that someone had used their credit card information for an unspecified purpose.

FORGERY
A resident in the 1700 block of Dundee Road reported around 3 p.m. on Oct. 5 that someone cashed a check that had been taken from their checkbook for $500 without authorization.
FRAUD
A Mulberry Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Oct. 5 that they had gotten an email that appeared to be from Apple regarding some issue with an account. It directed the resident to another website that asked for their personal information. The resident learned it was a scam after contacting Apple.
CAR BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 1300 block of Wendy Drive reported on the night of Oct. 5 that someone had gotten into their parked car, but nothing was reported stolen.
- Also on the night of Oct. 5, police found four vehicles in the area of the 1200 block of Daryl Lane that burglars had entered. Coins and a cellphone charger were taken from two of the vehicles. Nothing was thought to have been stolen from the other two.
- A resident in the 1900 block of Milton Avenue reported that someone had gotten into an unlocked car during the overnight hours of Oct. 5-6.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Longaker Road reported around 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 8 that they witnessed two men or boys get into the resident's car parked in front of their home.
HOME BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 1300 block of Ridge Road reported around 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 6 that an unidentified man was seen on security video walking through a yard and entering their home.
- A resident in the 0-100 block of The Court of Harbinger Falls reported that someone had broken into their front door and rummaged through several rooms between about 3 and 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. Some costume jewelry was reported stolen.
- A resident in the 3200 block of Prestwick Lane reported on the night of Oct. 8 that someone had broken into their home through the back door and ransacked the interior, stealing several pieces of jewelry.
THEFT
A shopper at the Goodwill in the 4100 block of Dundee Road reported around 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 that someone had stolen their wallet and keys from a jacket pocket while they were shopping. When the person contacted their credit card companies, they learned two of the cards had already been used at several different locations.
FAKE RETURN SCHEME
A staffer at at hardware store in the 1000 block of Willow Road reported on Oct. 7 that while reviewing store security footage from Sept. 21 they discovered a man and a woman who had entered the store without any items, picked up several pieces of merchandise and fraudulently obtained more than $150 in refunds from the customer service area.
GROUP SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Northbrook Court Neiman Marcus reported around 5 p.m. on Oct. 7 that a group of about 10 people, described as five men and five women between 20 and 30 years of age, and stole an unknown number of handbags from a display. The exact numbers of bags were stolen, and the total amount of loss was not known at the time of the report. (It was the third week in a row that a group of people shoplifted multiple purses at a time from a Northbrook luxury goods retailer.)
PICKPOCKETING
A patron at the AMC theater at Northbrook Court reported around 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 9 that someone had stolen their wallet and car keys from inside their bag while they were attending a movie screening.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Valencia Drive resident reported at 7:47 p.m. on Oct. 10 that someone had used their personal information to open up two unauthorized credit card accounts. There was no loss reported.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Yulisa C. Lopez-Guerra, 23, of the 1100 block of Peasant Run Drive in Wheeling, was arrested at 6:37 a.m. on Oct. 6 and charged in connection with a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash in the area of Willow and Shermer roads. A car matching the description of the vehicle involved was stopped a short time later in Wheeling and Lopez-Guerra was charged with driving without a valid license and leaving the scene of an accident. She was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
A 29-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 8:10 a.m. on Oct. 7 in following a traffic stop in the 800 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving without a valid license. He was also issued citations for unlawful transportation of open containers and failure to yield while turning right on a red light.
A 28-year-old Northbrook man was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. on Oct. 9 and charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop in the area of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. He was also ticketed for speeding.
