Catalytic Converter Thieves Flee Police: Northbrook Police Blotter
The driver of a vehicle involved in the criminal activity abruptly did a U-turn and sped away when cops approached it.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

- Diana Burda, of Northfield, is accused of driving while license suspended, having no valid driver's license for more than a year, having a defective headlight, failure to signal, and was arrested at 9:09 p.m. March 23, at Waukegan and Willow roads. A court date of May 5 was assigned.
- Jocelyn Rosales-Medina, of Palatine, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver's license, no valid registration, and was arrested at 2:50 p.m. March 23, at Ballantrae Drive and Dundee Road. A court date of May 4 was assigned.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
- Trevor A. Schmidt, of New Lenox, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, illegal cell phone use while using, improper lane usage, driving off the roadway, and was arrested at 8:13 p.m. March 24, at Pfingsten Road and Cherry Lane. A court date of May 5 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
- An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Raymond Drive reported at 2:05 p.m. March 25, someone smashed the driver’s window to the company van and stole several copper pipes and tools.
- A resident in the 100 block of Caribou Crossing called police at 4:31 p.m. March 25, to report someone had entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her purse.
THEFT
A resident in the 2000 block of Butternut Lane reported at 2:37 p.m. March 25, two rings belonging to his wife were stolen from the house.
FORGERY
A resident in the 2500 block of Stonebridge Lane called police at 12:18 p.m. March 29, to report several new bank checks were stolen from the mail while being delivered to her house. Many of the checks were forged and cashed by an unknown subject, leaving her bank account overdrawn.
FLEE OR ELUDE
Police responded to the area of Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard at 1:25 a.m. March 30, for a report of a suspicious vehicle with occupants suspected of catalytic converter thefts. One of the officers saw the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle abruptly did a U-turn and sped away.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 3700 block of Riviera Court called police at 8:15 a.m. March 30, to report he accidentally left his garage door open all night. When he came out to the garage the next morning, he noticed someone had taken his golf clubs.
