'Dog Breeder' Never Delivers; Camera Catches Shoplifter: Blotter

Northbrook Police Blotter: May 25 - May 31

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Just because someone gets arrested does not mean they will be found guilty of anything by a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
A Palm Lane resident came to the station to report that they wired about $1,000 to a dog breeder on March 37 to buy a dog but never heard back from the breeder.

RETAIL THEFT
A man tried to steal several t-shirts and shoes from the Saks off 5th store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard around 4 p.m. on May 27, but all items were recovered.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of the 0-100 block of The Court of Greenway reported at 4:40 p.m. on May 27 that someone had shattered the back sliding door to their home.

THEFT
A patron of the Whole Foods in the 800 block of Willow Road reported at 4:28 p.m. on May 28 that someone stole their wallet while shopping.

THEFT
A patron of the Trader Joe's in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 3:02 p.m. on May 28 that someone stole their wallet while shopping.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole a wallet, identification cards and various credit cards from a parked car in the 3000 block of Floral Drive sometime prior to the morning of May 29.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Shermer Road resident reported on the morning of May 29 that someone had tried to open up a new account using their personal information.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident of the 2800 block of Woodmere Drive reported at 12:45 p.m. on May 29 that someone had rummaged through their unlocked car and stole a pair of sunglasses and about $8 in cash.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Caribou Crossing resident reported at 3:17 p.m. on May 31 that someone had stolen their wallet, possibly after it was left in a taxicab. The resident later discovered someone had used the credit cards that had been left inside. The accounts were later closed.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Dalia Cain, 54, of the 15700 block of Chesterfield Lane in Orland Park, was arrested at 6:39 p.m. on May 24 and charged with retail theft after reportedly being caught on camera stealing about $680 worth of merchandise from the Northbrook Court Nieman-Marcus store.

Richard R. Ramos, 21, of the 3900 block of North Sawyer Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 2:02 a.m. on May 26 near the intersection of Willow Road and Three Lakes Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, not having his drivers license and improper lane usage.

Kelvin R. Miles, Jr., 26, of the 800 block of Beaumont Drive in Naperville, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. on May 27 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Willow Road. Police pulled him over after noticing him disobey a traffic control device and issued him a citation for that, as well as operating a vehicle without insurance.

A 19-year-old Deland, Florida man was arrested at 12:17 a.m. on May 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Pfingsten roads.

A 19-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 10:43 p.m. on May 28 in the 1100 block of Sanders Road and charged with operating a vehicle with suspended registration. Police noticed a vehicle leaving a park, checked its license plate and learned they had been suspended.

Angel Rendon-Medina, 21, of the 0-100 block of East Jeffrey Avenue in Wheeling, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. on May 29 and charged with possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Old Willow roads. Police pulled over his car, smelled marijuana and asked him for permission to search it before finding several pills and a white powder. Prosecutors approved a felony charge and Rendon-Medina was also ticketed for failure to signal.

Dean Netisingha, 38, of the 10300 block of McNerney Drive in Franklin Park, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. on May 30 near the intersection of Waukegan Road and Walters Avenue on an outstanding bond forfeiture arrest warrant issued by Cook County.
