False Crash Reports Lead To Felony Charge: Northbrook Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Just because someone gets arrested does not mean they will be found guilty of anything by a court of law.
INCIDENTS
BURGLARY
Someone broke into several trailers at a construction site in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard between 5 p.m. on May 19 and 6:30 a.m. on May 21 and stole an unknown amount of tools, supplies and equipment.

THEFT
A resident in the 3100 block of Pheasant Creek Drive reported that several pieces of jewelry were found missing after a visit from a cleaning company between May 11 and May 14.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1800 block of South Lane reported at 8:43 p.m. on May 21 that someone broke a window in their home next to their front door by an unknown person earlier that evening.

FRAUD
A resident in the 1800 block of Smith Road reported at 10:53 a.m. that someone had used their bank account information to fraudulently open accounts and issued an unauthorized check.
THEFT
A representative of a business in the 500 block of Anthony Lane reported at 4:08 p.m. on May 22 that someone had stolen various copper items.
FORGERY
An employee at the Northbrook Court H&M reported at 3:39 p.m. on May 24 that a man bought $285 worth of merchandise using three counterfeit $100 bills.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Shannon R. Ryan, 26, of the 2200 block of South Highland Avenue in Lombard, was arrested at 3:46 a.m. on May 19 on an active warrant and charged with driving with an expired license after she was pulled over for an equipment violation at Willow Road and I-294.
Robert C. Larkin, 47, of the 4600 block of Locust Avenue, was arrested at 1 p.m. on May 21 and charged with felony disorderly conduct following an investigation into false traffic crash reports. Larkin turned himself in at the police station after prosecutors approved the charge.
A 50-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 4:10 p.m. on May 21 at a gas station in the 800 block of Waukegan Road and charged with driving with a revoked license after police on patrol noticed him commit a traffic violation. He was issued citations for failure to wear a safety belt and not having proof of insurance.
A 30-year-old Berwyn man was arrested at 11:23 p.m. on May 21 near the intersection of the Edens Expressway and Tower Road and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for a traffic violation. He was also issued citations for disobeying a traffic control device and expired registration.
A 22-year-old Wilmette man was arrested at 2:14 a.m. on May 23 near the intersection of Willow Road and Three Lakes Drive and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop. He was ticketed for improper lane usage.
