Driver Flees Northbrook, Glencoe Police: Northbrook Police Blotter

Police attempted to pull the car over due to a smashed rear passenger window, but the driver eluded both departments on the same day.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Linda P. Thompson, of Gurnee, is accused of improper lane usage, driving under the influence, illegal transportation of open alcohol, expired registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change, and was arrested at 1:53 a.m. Oct. 16, at Landwehr and Dundee roads. A court date of Oct. 31 was assigned.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

A Chicago resident is accused of speeding, (61 mph in a 40 mph zone), no valid driver's license, failture to have headlights on while operating windshield wipers during the rain, and was arrested at 1:55 a.m. Oct. 16, at Fox Meadow Drive and Willow Road. A court date of Nov. 18 was assigned.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

  • Police and fire department personnel responded to an assisted living establishment at 9:50 a.m. Oct. 14, for a report of an unresponsive patient in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard. The decedent showed no signs of life and had a DNR on file. She passed away of natural causes. The family and funeral home were contacted.
  • Police and fire department personnel responded to a residential living complex in the 2100 block of Mayapple Court at 9:27 p.m. Oct. 16, regarding a resident who was found unresponsive. The decedent showed no signs of life and died of natural causes. The family and funeral home were contacted.
  • Police and fire department personnel responded at 2:33 p.m. Oct. 17, to an assisted living residence in the 1000 block of Sunset Ridge Road regarding a patent who had stopped breathing. The decedent had a DNR on file. The decedent showed no signs of life and died of natural causes. The family and funeral home were contacted.
  • Police and fire department personnel responded at 8:13 p.m. Oct. 17, to an assisted living complex in the 4100 block of Lake Cook Road regarding an unresponsive patient. The decedent showed no signs of life and passed away of natural causes. The facility staff contacted the family and funeral home.
  • Police and fire department personnel responded at 11:47 p.m. Oct. 17, to a residence in the 1800 block of Ellendale Drive regarding a family member who was found unresponsive. The emergency workers performed CPR until she was transported to the hospital. Once there, she died of natural causes, according to police.

COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY

The staff members of a store in the 1300 block of Shermer Road reported at 2:23 p.m. Oct. 14, a male and a female passed counterfeit $20 bills when they each purchased a bottle of water.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A store employee of a business in the 900 block of Willow Road called police at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 16, to report someone entered their store and filled his bag with electric shavers and various containers of body wash. The subject exited the store without paying. The subject, who was in his 40s, drove away in a blue Volkswagen.
  • A staff member at a business in the 1000 block of Willow Road reported at 10:06 a.m. Oct. 18, a man filled up a shopping cart with six sink faucets and walked out of the store without paying.
  • A staff member at a store int he 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 12:57 p.m. Oct. 18, to report a known shoplifting offender entered the store and stole clothing, skin care products, jewelry, and fragrances without paying. The staff provided police with the offender’s description and name.

FLEE AND ELUDE

Police saw a white vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed with a smashed rear passenger window at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18, at Waukegan Road and Founders Drive. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle fled. The Northbrook Police Department was advised that Glencoe police saw the vehicle, a 2018 white Hyundai. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The vehicle and occupants fled from Glencoe police as well.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

A Basswood Drive resident reported at 2:28 p.m. Oct. 20, she responded to an email thinking it was from Geek Squad asking her to purchase gift cards relating to her computer issue. The complainant purchased the gift cards when the unknown subject asked for double the amount. The complainant became suspicious and stopped corresponding. The complainant noted she gave her personal information to the subject.
