Trio Fill Tote Bag With Stolen Fragrances: Northbrook Police Blotter
The staff heard the theft alarms activate when the three women broke into the fragrances display, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
THEFT
Diane L. Sias, of Chicago, is accused of theft for unlawful use of a credit card, and was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 27, in the 2700 block of Dundee Road. A complainant told police someone took her purse while they were at a fast food restaurant, and unlawfully charged purchases on her credit card. After completing the investigation, Sias was taken into investigation in connection with the charges. A court date of Oct. 24 was assigned.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
Lydia Cichanski, of Prospect Heights, is accused of improper lane usage, driving while license suspended, suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Oct. 6, at Dundee Road and Timber's Edge. A court date of Nov. 15 was assigned.

RETAIL THEFT
A Northbrook resident is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 12:04 p.m. Oct. 7, in the 1100 block of Church Street. The manager of the retail store said a woman came into the store and stole an alcoholic beverage. The woman fled the store. The manager and staff said they were familiar with the woman due to past dealings with her. A court date of Nov. 22 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
- A resident in the 200 block of Honeysuckle Drive reported at 8:53 p.m. Oct. 7, someone broke into their residence through a rear sliding glass door while they were gone. Several pieces of jewelry were taken.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Heritage Oaks Drive called police at 9:50 a.m. Oct. 10, to report someone broke into her house by stacking patio furniture outside and breaking through the second floor balcony doors. Various items were missing from the bedroom and home office.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
- A resident in the 300 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 12:13 p.m. Oct. 8, to report their vehicle’s catalytic converter was taken from their 2004 Honda Element while they were at an appointment.
- A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked overnight on Oct. 9 in a lot in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard.
- A citizen reported on Oct. 12 that someone stole the catalytic converter from her Honda Accord while it was parked overnight in a lot in the 1400 block of Shermer Road.
RETAIL THEFT
- The staff at a store in the 900 block of Willow Road reported at 6:21 p.m. Oct. 8, that three women entered the store and walked over to the fragrances section. The staff heard the theft alarms activate when the three broke into the fragrances display. The three women concealed the items into their tote bags and started walking towards the exit. One of the subjects stopped and handed the tote bag back to the staff prior to running out, but the other subjects fled with the stolen items.
- Staff at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported at 2:59 p.m. Oct 9, a woman entered the store and stole several pieces of merchandise. The woman was wearing a blue mask, purple North Face jacket and a black fanny pack.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A citizen reported at 10:53 p.m. Oct. 8, that someone smashed the rear window and damaged the passenger window of her vehicle while it was parked in a lot in the 600 block of Skokie Boulevard.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
- A citizen called police at 10:09 p.m. Oct. 8, to report someone smashed the front and rear passenger window of her vehicle and stole her purse that contained cash, credit cards and her identification in the 1800 block of Lake Cook Road.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Voltz Road reported at 7:07 a.m. Oct. 11, that someone entered her unlocked 2018 Lexus while it was parked in the driveway. The subject stole the complainant’s wallet containing her driver’s license, credit cards, Airpods, and the garage door opener. The garage was opened as well.
FLEE OR ELUDE
An officer was dispatched at 11:05 p.m. Oct. 8, for a sighting of a stolen vehicle at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road. The officer found a vehicle matching that description, a gray Hyundai Tucson. The officer activated his emergency lights, but the vehicle fled on the Edens Expressway.
THEFT
A citizen reported at 11:42 p.m. Oct. 10, their Mike Amiri baseball hat was stolen from the locker room of his fitness facility in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard.
STOLEN VEHICLE
- A resident in the 600 block of Voltz Road called police at 6:37 a.m. Oct. 11, to report he noticed a Ford sport utility in his driveway parked next to his car in the early morning hours. He later walked outside and noticed his Mercedes Benz was stolen and the garage door was opened.
- Two separate residents in the 2200 block of Greenview Road reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 11, their vehicles, a 2022 Hyundai and a 2022 Mercedes, respectively, were stolen while they were parked in the driveways overnight. The vehicles unlocked with the key fobs inside.
TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
- A resident in the 1900 block of Alexandra Court reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 11, someone entered his unlocked 2010 Subaru while it was parked in the driveway. It did not appear that anything was taken.
- A resident in the 600 block of Voltz Road called police on Oct. 11 to report that during the overnight hours, someone entered his 2013 Mercedes Benz while it was unlocked and parked in his driveway. It did not appear that anything was taken.
- A resident in the 1900 block of Alexandria Court reported on Oct. 12 that had left his garage door open overnight in the 1900 block of Alexandria Court. Someone entered his 2017 Ford Focus that was parked inside the garage, but did not take anything.
