Trio Steals Several Purses; 1 Arrest At Northbrook Court: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Just because someone gets arrested does not mean they will be found guilty of anything by a court of law.
INCIDENTS
RETAIL THEFT
Three unidentified men or boys stole several purses from a display at the Northbrook Court Lord & Taylor Store in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Road and ran out prior to 7:17 p.m. on May 10.

THEFT
Someone stole various items from inside an office in the 1400 block of Techny Road between 5:30 p.m. on May 10 and 8 p.m. on May 11.
BURGLARY
Someone stole various lawn care-related items from a golf course in the 1300 block of Willow Road between 4 p.m. on May 11 and 7 a.m. on May 12.

IDENTITY THEFT
An Oak Avenue resident reported on the morning of May 12 that someone had tried to open unauthorized credit accounts using their identity.
THEFT
A shopper in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 6:53 p.m. on May 12 that someone stole their purse.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Sutton Drive resident reported on the evening of May 14 that they had noticed several unauthorized charges made to DSW Show Warehouse and Comcast in Boston, Massachusetts. The resident also reported getting a call from Macy's about two potentially fraudulent charges that had been placed online for deliveries to addresses in Yonkers, New York and were canceled. The resident reported that the credit cards that had been used in the fraud attempts had never left their possession.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Walters Avenue resident reported at 7:41 p.m. on May 15 that the Internal Revenue Service contacted them to say that someone had tried to use their social security number in order to get a job. The resident placed identity theft alerts on their accounts and planned to contact the Social Security Administration.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone placed an unknown substance into the gas tank of a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard prior to 4:52 p.m. on May 16.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole the driver's side mirror a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Dell Road between 2 and 5 p.m. on May 16. There were no signs of an accident.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 63-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 8:42 a.m. on May 11 in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop. He was also cited for running a red light.
A 30-year-old Crystal Lake man was arrested at 2:15 a.m. on May 12 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Fair Lane and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
A 30-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 3:55 p.m. on May 12 at the Northbrook Court Neiman Marcus store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road and charged with retail theft after she reportedly tried to steal about $745 worth of merchandise. Prosecutors later dropped charges.
A 40-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 3:09 a.m. on May 14 near the intersection of Willow Road and Ravine Way and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
