Fast Food Customer Throws Drink At Employee: Northbrook Police Blotter
The employee had attempted to grab the cup away from the male and told him to leave.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
- Jennifer L. Palmer, of West Allis, Wisconsin, is accused of driving under the influence, aggravated DUI, driving while license suspended for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 30, at Whitefield and Marshall roads. A court date of Dec. 2 was assigned.
- Mackenzie R. Bennett, of Buffalo Grove, is accused of improper lane usage, DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Dec. 1, in the 2700 block of Willow Road. A court date of Dec. 18 was assigned.

Police saw a 2021 white Kia Forte driving with illegally tinted windows at 12:42 a.m. Nov. 29 at Dundee and Huehl roads. The car had been suspected in retail thefts in another town. Police activated their emergency lights, but the car kept driving. The officer then turned on his sirens and the car slowed, but still refused to stop. The driver, later identified as Angelina J. O'Keefe, of Chicago, struck an assisting squad car and finally stopped. O'Keefe and a passenger in the car, Adrian O. Tayloe, of Skokie, refused to step out of the car or roll the tinted windows down. O'Keefe was eventually taken into custody, but Tayloe reportedly pushed the officers several times to resist arrest. O'Keefe was charged with illegally tinted windows, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and attempting to flee and elude police. Tayloe was charged with resisting a peace officer. A court date of Nov. 30 was assigned.

Egshig Baatar, of Northbrook, had a warrant out of Cook County for a previous DUI arrest, and was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Dec. 3, at Pfingsten and Dundee roads. Police had responded to a non-injury auto crash where Baatar had reportedly improperly passed a vehicle, which had caused the crash. He also received an improper passing on the left ticket. A court date of Jan. 17, 2025, was assigned.
IDENTITY THEFT
Calvin D. Smith, of Forest Park, Georgia, is accused of felony identity theft, and was arrested at 10 a.m. Dec. 3, in the 1300 block of Church Street. On Sept. 11, the complainant had contacted the Northbrook Police Department because someone used her information to order a new ATM card and created a joint account with her money. The complainant had no idea who the person was and never gave him permission to open a joint account. After a thorough investigation, it was discovered it was Smith. He was taken into custody in Georgia. Once he was taken to the Northbrook Police Department on Dec. 3, he admitted to creating the fraudulent account using the victim’s information and moving over $19,000 from the victim's account to his account. A court date of Dec. 4 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
PHONE SCAM
A Pheasant Creek Drive resident reported at 6:39 p.m. Nov. 27, she had received a call from someone claiming to work for the Federal Trade Commission, who advised her there had been fraudulent activity on her bank accounts. The person asked the complainant to purchase gift cards so she could move money from her accounts to a secure location. The complainant purchased $2,000 in Home Depot gift cards and gave the person the card numbers. After speaking with a family member, the complainant realized this was a scam.
MULTIPLE BURGLARIES TO VEHICLES
Several residents throughout the village reported on Nov. 28, someone had entered their unlocked vehicles while they were parked in their driveways and stole items from inside. A resident saw a male approach their vehicle around 12:30 a.m. and pull on the door handle. The male ran from the scene after realizing the vehicle was locked.
CHECK FRAUD
A Dundee Road resident called police at 3:39 p.m. Nov. 29, to report he had found $19,000 had been fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account. The complainant’s bank said someone had created a fake check to electronically withdraw the money through a mobile app. The check had several inconsistencies on the face of it, but was still processed by the bank.
RETAIL THEFT
The loss prevention staff of a retail store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported at 12:34 p.m. Dec. 2, a male and female came into the store to look at high-end sport jackets. The male walked into a dressing room and later came out with a different jacket. When he hung that jacket back on the rack, both exited the store. After the loss prevention watched the surveillance footage, they realized the duo had switched the store's clothing with their own. They were able to steal a Corneliani Top Coat and an Oakhurt Partners scarf. Both were valued at $2,390.
BATTERY
An employee at a fast food restaurant in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 3:32 p.m. Dec. 4, a male had walked inside and used his own cup to get a beverage out of their dispenser. The employee asked if he was going to pay for the drink he was stealing. The male at first said yes, but made no attempts to. The employee attempted to grab the cup away from the male and told him to leave. The male threw the beverage all over the employee and left the restaurant.
