Field Band Members Achieve Success Again!

5 band members won spots to perform in the 2014 ILMEA Honors Band

Field Middle School band members are no strangers to success.

Each year the Illinois Music Educators Association holds auditions for a Junior High Honors Band made up of band members from northern Illinois middle schools. Around 400 students go through a lengthy audition process in front of judges to win a spot in this band.

This year 5 Field band members won a place in this prestigious band. The students who will be performing in the 2014 ILMEA Honors Band are 8th grade flute player Youjin Shon, 8th grade clarinetist Christina Duan, 8th grade alto sax player Allision Biernacki, 8th grade euphonium player Jason Vazquez and 8th grade trumpet player Matthew Ruth. These students will meet for a one-day festival on Saturday, Nov. 15 for a full day of rehearsals, followed by a public concert. This year’s festival will be held at Grayslake High School in Grayslake, Illinois, conducted by Ron Polancich, Band Director at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts.
