Fragrance Thieves Steal $5K From Store: Northbrook Police Blotter
Police said the trio loaded up several shopping carts with the stolen items.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A business owner in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:10 a.m. June 2, someone made an unauthorized transaction from his business’ bank account.

HAZARD
A person called police at 3:15 p.m. June 2, to report there are several potholes between the railroad ties that need repair at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing in the 700 block of Dundee Road. Union Pacific Railroad has been notified for the repair.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE
A person reported at 8:16 a.m. June 3, someone removed the catalytic converter from their vehicle in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard.
THEFT
An employee of a business in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 8:46 a.m. June 3, to report someone removed her wallet from her unsecured employee locker and attempted to make purchases with her credit cards.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A person in the 2700 block of Shermer Road reported at 12:10 a.m. June 4, someone punctured the tires on his vehicle while it was parked.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
A resident in the 1300 block of Shermer Road called police at 3:28 a.m. June 4, to report a man broke a window of his apartment and entered one of his closets. The man was chased off by the complainant and last seen running away from the scene.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
A person reported at 10:25 June 4, they found graffiti on a roadway sign at Woodhead and Huehl.
DISORDERLY
An employee of a business in the 1100 block of Willow Road called police at 8:21 p.m. June 5, to report a customer had a disagreement with management at the business regarding his food order. After the customer became irate and made threatening statements, the management signed a no trespass order. The customer was then removed from the business and cited for disorderly conduct (local ordinance).
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
- A person reported at 10:16 p.m. June 5, that a group of people were having a bonfire in the middle of Indian Ridge Park, 3300 block of Walters Avenue. They fled as police arrived. An officer retrieved a fire extinguisher from the squad car and was able to put out the fire. The Northbrook Fire Department responded to put out the remaining embers, and the Northbrook Park District was notified.
- A person called police at 8:29 a.m. June 8, to report someone cut the cable to a secured golf cart and used it to cause damage to a property in the 3500 block of Dundee Road.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
- An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Shermer Road called police at 10:23 p.m. June 5, to report that 45 minutes prior to contacting the Northbrook Police Department, another business employee noticed someone inside their cooler. The complainant said that once the person noticed them, they fled in an older white Mercedes, last seen traveling southbound on Shermer Road. The person is described as a white male, 5-foot-10, with brown hair and was last seen wearing a white collared short sleeve Polo shirt, gray jeans, and black and white gym shoes.
- A complainant reported at 6:12 p.m. June 7, a person was carrying a sing, soliciting for money and tried to open various car doors in the 800 block of Willow Road. Officers made contact with the person, who related he was panhandling for money, but denied trying to open the doors of any vehicles. Officers advised the person of the Village ordinance, and the person related that he understood. No further action was taken.
CIVIL DISPUTE
- A person reported at 10:15 a.m. June 6, they contacted a business in the 3300 block of Commercial Avenue to have digitized photographs made for a photo album. The complainant paid up front. After the business notified them, the photos were ready in April, they attempted to retrieve them. The business now appears to be closed, and the person has been unable to contact the owner of the business.
- A customer called police to report that between March 1 and June 6, they were having a dispute with a business in the 2700 block of Dundee Road regarding the quality of the photos that were made for the complainant and the pricing. The complainant did not like the quality and disputed the price of the negatives. They were advised that the situation was civil in nature.
- A resident in the 600 block of Michelline Lane reported on June 6 making a public post advertising her tutoring services on a Facebook Group of which she is a member. Another group member responded to the post, suggesting to other group members not to use the complainant’s services. The issue was determined to be a civil-related dispute, with no threats observed. The complainant was advised to contact Facebook administrators and possibly seek legal civil counsel.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 900 block of Willow Road called police at 2:28 p.m. June 6, to report three people entered the store, loaded up shopping carts with fragrance items and left the store without paying. The estimated loss was $5,000. One person is described as male with dreadlocks, wearing a black Disney "Fantasia" hoodie. Another male was wearing a black facemask and had on a black and blue winter jacket. The third person was a female, hair in braids, wearing a white shirt, white pants, black and white gym shoes.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
- Police were alerted at 5:45 p.m. June 7, of numerous flyers containing hate speech and antisemitic views had been placed into bags and tossed onto front lawns and streets throughout the neighborhood at Antique Lane and Coachmaker Drive. - A resident in the 700 block of Alice Drive reported at 10:27 p.m. June 8, someone was pounding on the windows of her house. The area was checked with negative results.
- A resident in the 2400 block of Auburn Lane called police at 12:12 a.m. June 9, to report there was a dog barking in the area and they believed people were casing houses in the area. The complainant said she did not see any people in the area, but had recently seen several strange vehicles. Officer checked the area with negative results.
STOLEN VEHICLE
- A resident in the 800 block of Downing Street reported at 8:12 a.m. June 7, someone removed his vehicle from his driveway overnight.
- A resident in the 800 block of Downing Street called police to report that during the overnight hours of June 7, someone reported that someone stole his vehicle from his driveway.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
Police were alerted from a license plate reader at 9:36 a.m. June 7, of a vehicle involved in a theft detected at Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. Officers located the vehicle and issued the driver a local ordinance for theft.
TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
- A person called police at 9:30 a.m. June 7, to report someone entered and rummaged through his vehicle in the 3600 block of Radcliffe Drive.
- A person reported at 4:51 p.m. June 7, someone entered and rummaged through her unlocked vehicle in the 3200 block of Prestwick Lane.
VANDALISM
A resident in the 400 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 9:50 a.m. June 9, to report someone scribbled with red sharpie on the front door.
