Glenbrook North Juniors Inducted into National Honor Society
Nearly 160 students recognized for academics, leadership.

Nearly 160 juniors have became part of a pretty select group: The National Honor Society.
Ceremonies were conducted May 16 for induction into the school's chapter. Officers Zach Berkowitz, Rachel Blitt, Scott Shapiro, and Lauren Tzirides, all members of the 2012 graduating class, spoke about the qualifications for entrance into NHS. North's 2011 Distinguished Alum Brad Benson and Principal Paul Pryma addressed the audience as well.
The list of the inductees is included in a PDF.

Joining is more than signing your name on a dotted line. The qualifications are rigorous. Students have to be invited to apply. Candidates must have a 3.5 cumulative academic G.P.A. by the fifth semester of their junior year. They also must fulfill 30 hours of community service outside of Glenbrook North, which can be completed during their first three years of high school.
In addition they must list their activities and any achievements or awards they've received and get those signed by a teacher. Then, they have to write a one-page statement on leadership and the ways that person has been a leader, said Mary Kosirog, NHS sponsor and the instructional supervisor for career and life skills at Glenbrook North.
