NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

RETAIL THEFT

Ana Milena Diaz Montejo, 35, of the 1300 block of Harvey Avenue, Berwyn, is accused of retail theft at 7:13 p.m. Sept. 4 at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, and was arrested. A person reported two women were observed taking around $100 worth of merchandise without paying for the items. The women were later observed in the evening when they returned to a nearby store. The women were stopped, and in reviewing the video footage, Diaz was observed concealing items. The other woman was released. Diaz's bond was set at $1,500, and she was released after posting bail. She is due in court Oct. 15.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Brian Manuel, 26, of the 1500 block of S Wolf Road, Prospect Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, not having insurance, failure to carry a license, and was arrested at 2:41 a.m. Sept. 6 during a traffic stop at Willow Road and The Strand. His bond was set at $3,000, and he was assigned a court date of Oct. 20.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN VEHICLE

A person reported at 6:35 p.m. Sept. 3 that someone took their vehicle without permission while it was parked at Claim Company, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. The vehicle was parked and unattended with the keys in the ignition when it was taken.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 9:59 p.m. Sept. 4 that while viewing video of another retail theft incident, they observed a second incident where a woman is observed removing various items from the display area and placing them in a black bag.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • A person called police at 5:40 a.m. Sept. 4 to report hearing that they heard the sound of what they believed was a gunshot in the 400 block of Lee Road. Officers checked the area for any criminal activity and nothing was located.
  • A resident in the 2200 block of Founders Drive reported at 2:44 p.m. Sept. 5 that they came home to find grease type marks on their carpet and furniture. It is unknown who made entry to the home and for what purpose.
  • A resident in the 2200 block of Center Avenue called police at 4:06 p.m. Sept. 10 to report that they have received three packages from an online retailer which they did not place any orders from. It was learned that an unknown person used a family member's information to open an account without their permission

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A person called police at 9:24 Sept. 8 to report they observed a man walk through a gate with what appeared to be a handgun in the 1700 block of Pfingsten Road. Officers responded to the area and located the man who was carrying a BB-gun.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 3600 block of Pebble Beach Road reported at 11:03 a.m. Sept. 9 that they returned to their residence to find that a small window on their front door had been broken out and a second floor window open. There was evidence that several rooms were entered with various items damaged and missing.
