Home Burglaries Reported Around Village: Northbrook Police Blotter
Several residents returned home to find unknown vehicles in their driveways, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
A Prospect Heights man is accused of having a suspended registration, defective headlight, expired registration, and was arrested at 10:24 p.m. Oct. 25, at Sanders and N. Mission Hills roads. A court date of Nov. 15 was assigned.

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE
A Northbrook resident is accused of speeding (47 mph in a 30 mph zone), driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 7:40 a.m. Oct. 27, in the 1100 block of Voltz Road. A court date of Nov. 18 was assigned.

IDENTITY THEFT
Antonio J. Valverde, of Orlando, Florida, is accused of financial identity theft, unlawful possession of fraudulent identification, and was arrested at 3:07 p.m. Oct. 27, in the 1800 block of Holste Road. The management staff at a car dealership reported two people were attempting to fraudulently purchase a vehicle using false identification. When officers arrived, one fled in his white Nissan. The other subject, Valverde, was taken into custody. A court date of Nov. 14 was assigned.
A citizen reported at 7:25 p.m. Oct. 20, that while he was shopping at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road, he dropped his wallet while shopping. Surveillance footage showed an unknown person found the wallet and picked it up. The complainant stated he received several notifications from his credit card company indicating there had been attempts to fraudulently make purchases. The credit card was canceled.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident in the 1100 block of Whitfield Road called police at 8:36 p.m. Oct. 21, to report someone smashed a window to their residence while they were home. Officers checked the area but could not find the subject.
DEATH INVESTIGATION
The police and fire departments responded at 2:53 a.m. Oct. 22, to an assisted living facility regarding an unresponsive patient in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard. The emergency staff attempted life-saving measures, but the decedent passed away.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
- A resident in the 2200 block of Mayapple Lane reported at 11:49 a.m. Oct. 22, someone entered her residence and stole several pieces of jewelry. The officers did not observe any forced entry into the residence.
- A resident in the 1800 block of Thornwood Lane called police at 5:03 p.m Oct. 23, to report someone broke into her residence through a garage door and stole several items including electronics, currency, sports clothing, and jewelry.
- A resident in the 2600 block of Audrey Lane reported at 5:52 p.m. Oct. 24, that when he arrived home and saw a vehicle in his driveway and several people running out of his home. They drove away in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle. The complainant noticed his front door had been forced open and several pieces of jewelry and cash were stolen. They were wearing construction style jumpsuits and hard hats.
- A resident in the 2700 block of Crabtree Lane called police at 5:03 p.m. Oct. 25, to report coming home and finding a gray sport utility vehicle in his driveway. A person was sitting in the driver’s seat. The person told the complainant that they were working in the area and wanted to hand out business cards. The complainant then noticed three other people approach the vehicle and jump inside. They drove away as the complainant realized his burglar alarm was activated. The subjects forced their way in through a patio door. Jewelry and cash were stolen.
