Homicide Suspect Nabbed By Northbrook License Plate Reader: Police

The 44-year-old man, who served 25 years for a 1994 murder, is accused of killing another man earlier this month in Maywood.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A Forest Park man wanted in connection with a homicide in Maywood was nabbed by Northbrook's license plate reader system. Milton Shepard, 44, of the 1100 block of Harlem Avenue, was arrested at 6:58 a.m. May 23, at Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard, according to police.

Officers were alerted from a license plate reader of a vehicle and vehicle owner wanted in
connection with a May 3 homicide in Maywood. Officers located the vehicle and Shepard was taken into custody. He was later transferred to Maywood Police Department’s custody.

Shepard is accused of shooting a person multiple times in the 1500 block of St. Charles Road, reports WFLD (Fox 32 Chicago). Shepard is accused of shooting the victim, Gerald Wilson, 40, inside his apartment and then fleeing the scene. Shepard was previously arrested for a 1994 murder and was released in 2019, after serving 25 years of a 50-year sentence.
