ID Thief Uses Stolen Mail; House Egged; DUI Arrests: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Northbrook Police Department blotter from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT
An Adirondack Drive resident reported on the evening of Oct. 26 they had begun getting numerous credit card inquiries about cards they had never signed up for after reporting someone had stolen some of their mail earlier in the month. The resident also reported getting a call from a Virginia car dealership notifying them that someone had tried to buy a car using their identity.

VANDALISM
A resident in the 500 block of Green Wood Road reported shortly after midnight on the morning of Oct. 27 that someone had thrown eggs at their home.

RETAIL THEFT
A staffer at the Village Square TJ Maxx reported around 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 28 that a man and a woman in their 20s stole a jacket from the store before fleeing in a vehicle.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Woodlawn Road resident reported on the morning of Oct. 29 that they had received a letter from a credit company about a new account that they had not opened.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the Village Square Verizon reported at 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 29 that a man in his 30s stole a pair of Beats brand headphones.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2300 block of White Oak Drive reported around 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 29 that someone had used a vehicle to damage their lawn.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 900 block of Meadow Road reported at 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 that they witnessed an unidentified person enter their parked car and leave. Nothing was reported meeting at the time of the report.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the Northbrook Court Macy's reported around 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 30 that two people were seen stealing various items from the men’s department.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 1000 block of Keystone Avenue reported around 5:21 p.m. on Oct. 30 that an unidentified person entered their vehicle and stole about $1 in cash.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Woodland Drive resident reported around 11 p.m. on Oct. 30 that they had been notified about several fraudulent transactions on their credit card account.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 900 block of Meadow Road reported at 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 that they observed an unidentified person enter their vehicle before running away. Nothing was reported missing.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 4000 block of Greenacre Drive reported around 4 p.m. on Nov. 1 that they had returned home to find someone had gotten into their house. Nothing was reported missing.


ARRESTS

Jordan Whitehead, 47, of the 2800 block of Farmington Road in Northbrook, was arrested around 1:48 a.m. on Oct. 26 near the intersection of Pfingsten and Farmington roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage after officers on patrol noticed a vehicle violate a traffic law.

A 52-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 9 p.m. on Oct. 28 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Shermer and Willow roads and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for driving without insurance, speeding and driving with one headlight.

A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 11 p.m. on Oct. 28 near the intersection of Willow and Shermer roads and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage and driving without insurance.

A 25-year-old Arlington Heights was arrested around 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 29 and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving a car without a required breath alcohol ignition interlock device. He was also ticketed for not wearing a seat belt.

Lea N. D'Ante, 22, of the 100 block of Chestnut Road in Northbrook, was arrested around 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 30 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop in the area of Dundee and Sanders road. An officer on patrol was alerted to a possible drunk driver and located a vehicle from a description provided. She was also issued a citation for failure to yield.
