K-9 Unit Assists In Burglary Arrest: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • A Lake Bluff man is accused of driving with no valid driver's license, an expired registration, and was arrested at 10:33 a.m. Nov. 7, in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Nov. 30 was assigned.
  • A Waukegan man is accused of speeding (47 mph in a 30 mph zone), driving with no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 11:56 a.m. Nov. 7, at Techny and Shermer roads. A court date of Nov. 30 was assigned.

POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE WITH INTENT TO DELIVER

Christopher B. Bodiongan, of Chicago, had a warrant out of Indiana for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was arrested at 7:03 a.m. Nov. 8, in the 3800 block of Walters Avenue. Police located Bodiongan while assisting the fire department with another incident. Bodiongan was held at the police department until being taken to the county jail.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

A Chicago resident is accused of speeding (64 mph in a 30 mph zone), driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 10:04 a.m. Nov. 10, at Shermer and Walters roads. A court date of Dec. 23 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a store in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road reported at 9:01 a.m. Nov. 4, that a woman came into the store and stole three bottles of wine. The staff recognized the woman. Police arrested her at her residence for retail theft. A court date of Dec. 12 was assigned.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 2100 block of Foxglove Drive called police at 10:21 a.m. Nov. 4, to report someone had entered their condo and stole jewelry from the bedroom. The officers did not find any forced entry on the complainant’s door.
  • Police responded to a burglar alarm at 6:23 p.m. Nov. 8, at a residence in the 1800 block of Braeside Lane. They found a shattered window upon arrival. After searching the residence with a family member, the officers discovered the residence had been burglarized. The unknown subject took jewelry and cash.

ASSIST OUTSIDE DEPARTMENT

  • Police responded at 11:20 p.m. Nov. 4, to the railroad tracks near Techny Road in the 100 block of Anets Drive to assist Metra Police Department with a person struck by a passing train. The investigation was handled by Metra officers.
  • The Northbrook K9 unit was dispatched at 4:41 p.m. Nov. 9, to the 700 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park, to assist police there with a perimeter search for a subject who had allegedly committed a burglary. Northbrook’s K9 Unit tracked the subject to an area where the suspect was successfully taken into custody.

THEFT BY DECEPTION

  • An Anne Lane resident reported at 10:51 a.m. Nov. 7, they received a text message from someone posing as his supervisor. The subject advised the complainant to purchase 10 $100.00 Apple gift cards and supply him with the card numbers. The complainant did, but when the subject requested more, the complainant became suspicious. After contacting his employer, he realized it was a scam.
  • A White Pine Street resident called police at 12:34 p.m. Nov. 8, to report she arranged to purchase a dog via a Facebook group and sent the seller $350. When the seller was not forthcoming with the details of the sale, the complainant asked for the money back. The seller asked for more money, and the complainant suspected it was a scam. The seller deleted the account on Facebook.
  • A Brentwood Road resident reported at 1:20 p.m Nov. 8, her house cat went missing early in the year and she posted it on social media. She was recently contacted by a subject that claimed he found the cat, but was demanding $150 in reward money through an online app. After the complainant sent the money, the subject requested more money and refused to return the cat. The complainant realized it was a scam and contacted the police.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Police and fire department personnel responded to a residential fire at 10:39 p.m. Nov. 7, in the 2200 block of Catherine Street. The fire was found in the basement of a vacant house and was extinguished immediately. Personnel are investigating the cause of the fire.

COMPUTER TAMPERING

An El Cid Lane resident reported at 10:37 a.m. Nov. 8, she was contacted by someone posing as a tech from Geek Squad through her computer. The subject stated her computer had several viruses that he could help her with. The complainant allowed the unknown subject to access her computer remotely. Over two days and after speaking to multiple people, $50,000 was removed from her banking institution. The complainant contacted the bank to stop the transaction.

STOLEN VEHICLE

Police responded to the area of Shermer and Willow roads at 12:35 p.m. Nov. 9, for a report that a stolen automobile had been seen there. When the officers found the 2019 black Jaguar, they activated their emergency lights to stop it. The occupants and vehicle fled from the officers.
