Kenyan Parliament Member Will Visit Northbrook Schools
Fred Outa will visit classrooms and speak at the library during a week-long visit this month.

NORTHBROOK, IL - A member of Parliament in Kenya who is known for his work in helping children living in slums will visit various Northbrook schools this month.
Fred Outa, a man who grew up in a Kenyan slum himself, has dedicated his life to children experiencing the same hardships, according to a Northbrook School District 28 news release. He will visit district schools from Jan. 14 to 19 and deliver a presentation open to parents at the Northbrook Public Library at 7 p.m. on Jan. 14.
District 28 adopted Spurgeon’s Academy in Kibera Slum in Nairobi, Kenya - a school that educates 400 orphans - in 2006 and through annual fundraisers has donated to the Fred Outa Foundation to support the school.
Support from District 28 also helped build a high school for girls who attended Spurgeon’s.
