New 'Friends' From Bar Steal Man's Car: Northbrook Police Blotter
The man and two people he had just met at a bar went to an area grocery store, where they stole his car, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
Brandon G. Miller, of Wheeling, is accused of speeding (70 mph in a 45 mph zone), driving with a suspended driver's license, suspended registration, and was arrested at 10:58 a.m. Feb. 6, in the 900 block of Dundee Road. A court date of March 1 was assigned.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT
Roque Guerrero, of McHenry, had a warrant out of Will County for failure to appear in court, and was arrested at 1:34 p.m. Feb. 6, in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road. A court date of March 20 was assigned.

- A resident in the 2100 block of Clover Road reported at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, someone broke into his home and stole cash and jewelry. The subject broke a rear window to gain access to the residence.
- A resident in the 2300 block of Greenwood Road reported at 1:53 p.m. Feb. 8, he left his house for about four hours. When he returned, he found the front door had been forced open and the master bedroom was ransacked. The unknown offender stole a pillow case and jewelry.
THEFT OF LOST/MISLAID PROPERTY
A Jeffrey Court resident called police at 1 p.m. Feb. 3, to report she accidentally left her identification and credit cards in a ride-share vehicle when she exited. The ride-share driver said the next customer took the items when he left. The police department is working with the ride-share company to determine who the customer was.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
A citizen reported at 4 p.m. Feb. 4, that someone entered her unlocked 2005 silver Honda and rifled through the contents while it was parked in the 1200 block of Williamsburg Drive. The complainant stated it didn’t appear anything was missing.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
While on a routine patrol at 4:02 a.m. Feb. 5, police noticed broken windows at a restaurant and coffee shop in the 800 block of Skokie Boulevard. The offender was not inside either of them. The staff was called to the restaurant and said three cash drawers were missing. The staff at the coffee shop said nothing was missing.
STOLEN VEHICLE
A citizen reported at 12:20 a.m. Feb. 6, he traveled to a local grocery store in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard to purchase some items with two people he has just met at a bar. When the complainant got out of his 2008 Chevy truck, the two subjects stole it. While the Northbrook officer was speaking to the complainant, the Highwood Police Department stopped that vehicle and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The Northbrook Police Department will seek charges against the subject for theft of auto.
THEFT
A customer at a health club in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 10:32 a.m. Feb. 8, she had left her earbuds on a piece of exercise equipment at her health club. When she returned to retrieve them, someone had taken them.
RETAIL THEFT
The manager at a store in the 900 block of Willow Road reported at 12:32 p.m. Feb. 9, a man came into the store carrying a bag. He walked over to the fragrances and concealed several products into his bag. The subject then fled without paying.
