Son of Northbrook Couple Sent 'Manifesto' Before Killing Parents in Vegas Murder-Suicide (UPDATED)

Aaron Wulf blamed his parents—Art Wulf and Jan Morgan-Wulf—for their deaths Wednesday in a document he sent before the killings.

  • UPDATE (6:42 p.m. Thursday, June 2):

Before killing his parents and then himself Wednesday at their summer home in Las Vegas, the 36-year-old son of a Northbrook couple sent a lengthy "manifesto" to police and the media blaming his parents for the deaths, the Northbrook Star reports.

No official cause of death has been given for Art Wulf, 69, and Jan Morgan-Wulf, 66, but police told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that their bodies had gunshot and stab wounds. The body of their 36-year-old son, Aaron Wulf, also was found at the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Star reports.

Police arrived at the Wulf's suburban Las Vegas summer home at about 11:23 a.m.  Wednesday, June 1, to do a well-being check after receiving a phone call from a relative at about 10:49 a.m., according to the Star. The relative contacted police after hearing screams during a phone call to the Wulf's home, the report stated, adding that police attributed the delayed response to not knowing that a crime was in progress.

Although Aaron Wulf emailed copies of his manifesto—a document totaling hundreds of pages—before committing the killings, police told the Star they didn't receive it until after the fact and did not specify when.

Aaron Wulf has a listing as an actor on the Internet Movie Database, citing small roles from 2004 on the TV series Monk and Girlfriends. Police say Aaron Wulf had a history of mental illness but no criminal record, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Police told the Review-Journal that Aaron Wulf committed suicide, but his cause of death was not given. No other suspects were being sought, and authorities were calling this an isolated incident, the report stated.

“What we have is a family tragedy,” police told the Review-Journal, adding that it appeared that Aaron Wulf killed his parents before killing himself.

Art Wulf was a semi-retired lawyer who also served on the Glenbrook High Schools District 225 board in the late 1990s, according to the Chicago Tribune. Jan Morgan-Wulf was a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in Northbrook and had been a speech pathologist for Chicago Public Schools, the Tribune reports.
