Northbrook Library To Reopen July 20 With Limited Hours
Limited services are available as Phase 4 continues.

On Monday, July 20, we will reopen to the public with limited services as we continue to move through Phase 4 of our Reopening Plan. The library will look very different than before the closure. For example, you will only be able to browse limited sections and access limited services. We have also we have removed all tables and seating areas in common areas.

To help maintain physical distancing, we are only allowing 50 patrons to be in the building at a time, and limiting visits to an hour or less. If we are at capacity, you will be asked to wait before entering the building.
Everyone ages 2 and up must wear a mask while in the building. If you are unable to wear one due to a medical condition, we can provide remote services, including curbside pickup and homebound delivery.

Open Hours
During our reopening to patrons, we will be open with limited hours, including certain hours reserved for our vulnerable and at-risk patrons. Please note that these hours are subject to change as we respond to the pandemic.

* Vulnerable Hours: the first hour we are open on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday is reserved for our vulnerable and at-risk patrons (ages 65 & up and those with an underlying health concern).
What you can do in the library
- Browse the Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction Collections and the new AV materials.
- Check out materials.
- Ask for youth materials from the Youth Services department.
- Use the Collaboratory by appointment. Schedule an appointment.*
- Use a study room for 60 minutes by appointment. Reserve a study room online, or call 847-272-4873 or email reference@northbrook.info during our open hours to schedule an appointment.*

- Print/copy/fax.
- Access the bathrooms.
* A Northbrook Library card is required to schedule an appointment. No “day-of” appointments can be scheduled.
What you cannot do in the library
- Cannot pick up your holds in the building (we will continue to use curbside pickup for all holds).
- Cannot return materials in the building. You can use our drive-up book drop near the west entrance during our open hours.
- Cannot use a study room/computer/Collaboratory without an appointment.
- Cannot browse Youth Services, magazines, newspapers, multimedia, and our non-circulating collection.
- Cannot use the Peltz Digitization Room & Media Lab in the Collaboratory.
- Cannot reserve or access meeting rooms, classrooms, or the Auditorium.
- Cannot access the Friends Bookshop.
- Cannot donate any books or other library materials.
Services you can access without having to enter the building
If possible, we encourage you to use our services that do not require you to enter the building:
- Use curbside pickup to get library materials
- Return materials in our drive-up book drop on the west side of the building during our open hours
- Request homebound delivery
