Northbrook Taco Bell Drive-Through Proposed
Northbrook's zoning committee will consider a Taco Bell on the site of a former gas station on Dundee Road.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Plans for a drive-through Taco Bell eatery on the northwest corner of Dundee and Pfingsten roads in Northbrook are expected to be presented to village trustees as soon as an Aug. 8 meeting, the Northbrook Star reports.
The location was formerly the site of a Citgo and 7-Eleven gas stations. The former franchisee of the station told the Star it became too difficult to make a profit due to its proximity to Lake County, where gas is close to 6 cents cheaper.
In April, the gas station closed permanently and a demolition permit was issued. About 15 gas stations have closed in Northbrook in recent years, the president of the Northbrook Historical Society told the paper. Residents of the nearby Cambridge Court condominiums had mixed feelings about a new Taco Bell, according to the Star.

"Go ahead, be my guest," said one.
"Fake food...I don't think Northbrook will like it," said another.
"They're going to need a big wall," the president of the condo association told the paper.
