Northbrook Village Board To Finalize FY2027 Budget, Fill Trustee Vacancy
Village President Kathryn Ciesla has appointed a new trustee following the resignation of Michelle Kohler in February.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Residents will get a public hearing on the village's proposed fiscal year 2027 budget when the Village Board meets Tuesday night at Village Hall.
According to the meeting's agenda, trustees will consider final approval of the spending plan, which runs from May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027.
The board is also expected to approve the Northbrook Public Library budget. The library operates as an independent taxing body, but its budget requires village sign-off.

Another major item on the agenda is a vacant seat on the Village Board. Village President Kathryn Ciesla has appointed Tamara H. Reese to serve as trustee, replacing Michelle Kohler, who resigned in February due to personal reasons. If the appointment is approved by the board, it is expected Reese will be sworn in at the meeting and join the board immediately.
Trustees are also set to consider adoption of Northbrook's first comprehensive five-year strategic plan. According to the meeting preview, the plan lays out long-term priorities for infrastructure, services and community development, and is intended to guide future budgeting and decision-making.
