Northfield Man Paid $800 for Fake Blackhawks Tickets
Jordan Meisles tells NBC the interaction with the scammer seemed shady.

A Northfield man who thought he would get the chance to see a Blackhawks playoff game in person was scammed out of $800 when the tickets he purchased to Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Anaheim Ducks turned out to be fake.
NBC-5-Chicago’s Trina Orlando reports the story of Jordan Meisles, who found the tickets on Craigslist.
After finding the good deal, Meisles met the seller in person outside what he claimed to be his workplace after the seller refused to use PayPal for the transaction and would only accept cash.

“It was a little shady,” Meisles said of the meeting. “He had his hood up the whole time, but overall seemed pretty friendly.”

All was well for Meisles and his guests until they got to the area and the tickets wouldn’t scan.
“They kept trying to scan our tickets, holding up the line,” Meisles said.
Security then pulled him aside and explained that the tickets were fake.
“They seemed real,” Meisles said, noting several features often found on authentic tickets.

A Craigslist spokesperson told NBC in-person transactions prevent a scam 99 percent of the time, but unfortunately for Meisles, he found himself in the one percent.
“At least we got to go downtown to a bar and watch the game with some drunken fans,” he said.
