Parking Lot Robbery; Northbrook Court Shoplifting Charge: Blotter
Home burglaries, online dating scams and fake emails from bosses on the Northbrook Police Department blotter from Nov. 17 - Dec. 5.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Wainwright Drive resident reported on Nov. 16 that someone used a business credit card to make an unauthorized payment to Chicago for a city-issued $70 ticket.

THEFT
A shopper in the 2700 block of Dundee Road reported that someone stole an iPad from an unattended bag around 4:10 p.m. on Nov. 16.
CAR BURGLARIES

- Someone stole sunglasses from inside an unlocked car parked in the 1000 block of Midway Road prior to the afternoon of Nov. 17.
- Someone got into another vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Midway Road prior to the afternoon of Nov. 17. It was not known if anything was stolen at the time of the report.
- A patron of the Saks off 5th, 127 Skokie Blvd., reported around 9 p.m. on Nov. 21 that someone had gotten into their car and stole various items that had been purchased.
- Three vehicles were burglarized in the 800 and 900 blocks of Bittersweet Drive prior to 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 24. A purse was taken from one of them. Nothing was reported stolen from the other two vehicles.
- Someone got into two vehicles in the 600 block of Berglund Place prior to 11 a.m. on Nov. 24. Nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report.
- Cash was stolen from a parked car in the 2300 block of Brentwood Road prior to 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 24.
- A burglar stole an item from a glove box of a parked car in the 1000 block of Midway Road prior to 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 24.
- A resident in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard reported around 3 p.m. on Nov. 28 that someone stole their backpack from the trunk of their vehicle.
- A patron of a gym in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that someone stole a purse from an unlocked car parked in the lot between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Nov. 29.
- Someone smashed the passenger side window of a car parked in the 900 block of Willow Road prior to 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 6 and stole a purse.
SHOPLIFTING
An unidentified stole two bottles of alcohol from the Whole Foods, 840 Willow Road, prior to 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 17. The man left the scene in a vehicle.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1500 block of Windy Hill Drive reported around 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 18 that someone damaged an area of their fence.
THEFT OF LOST OR UNATTENDED ITEM
A shopper at the Trader Joe's, 127 Skokie Blvd, reported around 3:30 p.m. that someone stole their wallet after it was left behind in a cart.
THEFT
A resident in the 2500 block of Shermer Road reported around 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 19 that someone shipped their laptop computer to an unauthorized person.
FRAUD
A resident in the 1200 block of Rudolph Drive reported around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 that someone had made unauthorized withdrawals from their bank account.
THEFT
A resident in the 2600 block of Techny Road reported around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 that several person items were missing from their home.
EGGING
A resident in the 3900 block of Medford Circle reported around 3 p.m. on Nov. 20 that someone threw eggs at their parked vehicle.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident in the 2600 block of Prince Street reported around 9 p.m. on Nov. 20 that someone had put an unauthorized hold on their mail delivery.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
An Evert Road resident reported around 2 p.m. on Nov. 26 that someone had used one of their credit accounts to make unauthorized purchases.
CHECK SCAM
A Fair Lane resident reported on the evening of Nov. 26 that they had gotten bad checks in the mail after responding to an online job offer. The resident was asked to cash the checks and buy gift cards, but the resident's bank notified them the checks were fraudulent
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Shermer Road resident reported on the afternoon of Nov. 27 that they had lost a wallet earlier in the year but not reported hte incident. The resident said they discovered someone had used their identity at a hospital, which was requesting payment for unauthorized services.
- A Dundee Road resident reported on the afternoon of Nov. 27 that someone had used their personal information to open up a utility account.
- A Pheasant Creek Drive resident reported around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 28 that they provided their account PIN while paying a cellphone bill and found the same day the number had been charged without authorization.
- A Koepke Road resident reported around 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 30 that someone had used their identity to open up several unauthorized credit accounts.
- A Normandy Lane resident reported around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 that someone had made several unauthorized charges to their credit accounts.
- A White Oaks Drive resident reported around 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 30 that they had gotten a notification that someone had opened a new credit account in their name although they had never opened nor authorized it.
HOME BURGLARIES
- A officers responded to an activated burglar alarm around 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 27 in the first block of Wellington Road and discovered the home had been burglarized. There was no sign of forced entry and various unspecified items were reported stolen.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Sussex Drive reported around 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 29 that they returned home to find their front door open and various piece of jewelry missing.
- A resident of the 200 block of Old Post Road reported around 11 p.m. on Dec. 3 that they returned home to find someone had ransacked their home. Various unspecified items were reported stolen.
EMAIL SCAM
An employee in the 3600 block of Woodhead Drive reported around 10 a.m. on Nov. 28 that they had gotten an email purporting to be from their company executive requesting the employee purchase $2,500 worth of gift cards. The employee became skeptical and was able to verify it was a scam.
DATING SCAM
A resident in the 3100 block of Pheasant Creek Drive reported around 8 a.m. on Nov. 28 that a person that had met on a social media site and with whom they had begun a romantic relationship requested a $15,000 "processing fee." A courier service contacted the resident for the funds. The resident was told it was a scam and asked not to send any money.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
An employee of a business in the first block of Revere Drive reported around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 that someone had hacked into their email account and made an unauthorized fund transfer.
ROBBERY
A patron of the Best Buy, 1072 Willow Rd., reported around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 1 that after they purchased a new camera, they were followed as they walked through the parking lot by a black colored sedan. When they arrived at the vehicle, a man exited the sedan and demanded their bag. The resident turned over the bag to the man, who got into the passenger side of the vehicle and drove away. Police did not provide any further description of the robber or the vehicle.
GIFT CARD SCAM
A staffer of a business in the 600 block of Dundee Road reported on Nov. 30 that an employee purchased "several thousand dollars" in iTunes gift cards after receiving a scam email purporting to come from the company's chief operating officer.
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident in the 4000 block of Pamela Lane reported that someone stole a package that had been delivered between 1 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 3.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A patron of a gym in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported around 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 6 that someone had scratched their parked vehicle.
ARRESTS
A 23-year-old Wheeling man was arrested around 11 p.m. on Nov. 16 near the intersection of Willow Road and Sioux Trail and charged with driving with a revoked license. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Basmattee Boodram, 46, of the 1200 block of Fairfield Road, Glencoe, was arrested around 2:10 a.m. on Nov. 20 near the intersection of Dundee and Shermer roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also issued citations for speeding and improper lane usage.
A 28-year-old Maywood man was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 26 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license following an investigation into a traffic crash in the area of Pfingsten and Cherry roads. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a traffic control device.
Shakira S. Webb, 19, of the first block of West 105th Street, Chicago, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 28 on a Cook County arrest warrant and charged with retail theft and possession of stolen property in connection with an Oct. 3 incident at the Northbrook Court Louis Vuitton.
Korey A. Thomas, 37, of the 2000 block of Apple Lane, Woodridge, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 29 in the 4000 block of Applewood Lane after officers who had been called about a dispute between two people learned he had an active arrest warrant from DuPage County.
