• Horror film fan gets to meet 'Halloween' director at FAN EXPO Chicago (chronicleillinois.com) — A Buffalo Grove couple with Northbrook roots had a dream horror-fan moment at FAN EXPO Chicago, meeting "Halloween" director John Carpenter and getting their poster signed. Lauren Eastman, originally from Northbrook and a Glenbrook High School alum, and her husband Grant described the encounter as a longtime goal fulfilled amid a star-studded, cosplay-filled weekend in Rosemont.
   

• Third Dem exits House 'accountability' working group (bigcountrynewsconnection.com) — State Rep. Tracy Katz Muhl of Northbrook has become the third Democrat to withdraw from a House "workplace culture and accountability" working group formed after sexual harassment complaints against ex-Rep. Harry Benton. Her move comes amid bipartisan criticism of House Speaker Chris Welch's handling of the Benton case and questions about how internal complaints against lawmakers should be investigated.
