Person Refuses To Leave Business: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Dea'Jhanara A. Lopez, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is accused of driving a suspended driver's license, improper lane usage, no insurance, and was arrested at 11:56 p.m May 13, at Dundee and Juniper. They were released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of July 1.

DRIVING UNDER INFLUENCE

Steven G. Anderson, of Walnut Creek, California, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 1:58 p.m. May 16, in the 2300 block of Shermer Road. Police located a vehicle improperly parked on a posted "No Parking" street. As officers approached, Anderson began slowing driving away and a traffic stop was initiated, according to police. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

William A. Diaz is accused of having a suspended registration, no valid insurance, and was arrested at 7:14 a.m. May 16, at Raymond Drive and Shermer Road. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of June 30.

INCIDENTS

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC MEANS

A Shannon Court resident reported at 12:13 a.m. May 13, someone was demanding money for images sent via Snapchat.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

A Church Street resident told police that between 7:15 a.m. and 7:37 a.m. May 12, someone put an unknown liquid on his windshield.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 3000 block of Pheasant Creek Drive reported that between Dec. 12, 2021, and May 12, someone removed the catalytic convertor from their vehicle.
  • A person reported at 8:59 a.m. May 17, that the catalytic converter had been stolen from one of his work trucks in the 300 block of Huehl Road. The vehicle was parked in the north parking lot for the past week, and it's unknown when the theft may have occurred.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

A Skokie Boulevard resident called police at 1:04 p.m. May 13, to report someone created a check with a number that duplicated the number of a check already written and deposited.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

A person reported at 1:16 p.m. May 13, graffiti was written on a sign with black marker near Shermer and Woodlawn roads.

DISORDERLY

An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Willow Road called police at 9:01 a.m. May 14, to report someone was causing a disturbance in the business. The subject was asked to leave, to which he refused. Officers made contact with the subject who was advised he was no longer welcome at the business and he left without further incident.

CIVIL DISPUTE

  • A Skokie Boulevard resident reported at 3:11 p.m. May 14, they paid for $12,000 worth of services that a company now refused to complete.
  • A Waterford Lane resident called police at 6:48 p.m. May 14, to report she was hired for a service and was not provided proper payment from the homeowner.

FORGERY

A Greenview Road resident reported at 12:02 p.m. May 18, two checks were forged and charged to her account. The checks were missing pieces of information and did not match the rest of the checks in the complainant’s checkbook. Both checks were made out to the same person and had “for mobile deposit only” written on the back.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Skokie Boulevard resident called police at 12:08 p.m. May 18, to report receiving numerous phone calls from a collection agency for Verizon. They were attempting to collect a debt of $2,000. The complainant stated he has never been a Verizon customer, and the email that the account was set up under was very similar to his email address.

FRAUDULENT USE OF CREDIT CARD

Through an interpreter, an Illinois Road resident reported at 10:47 a.m. May 19, someone opened up a Best Buy credit card under complainant’s previous name, which he legally changed in 2016, with $3,277.50 in charges made.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident in the 2700 block of Wilshire Lane resident called police at 11 a.m. May 19, to report someone walking around their vehicle that was parked in their driveway before leaving the area in another vehicle. Complainant checked her vehicle and found scratches on top of her trunk deck.
