Police Investigate Recent String Of Home Burglaries In Northbrook

The Northbrook Police Department said it is working with neighboring agencies in the investigation.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Following a string of recent residential burglaries around Northbrook, police are working with neighboring agencies to investigate the incidents. Most recently, groups of offenders have been targeting bigger homes located adjacent to wooded areas, according to police.

The most common thing being stolen is jewelry and cash, often in larger quantities. Police said the same pattern of burglaries are occurring in other Chicagoland suburbs.

"Northbrook remains a safe community, and we all must work together to keep it safe," Police Chief Christopher Kennedy said Thursday. "A few extra moments of precaution can prevent from becoming a victim."

Northbrook police are asking residents to "See Something, Say Something," as part of a department initiative, and report any and all suspicious behavior.

Residents are reminded to utilize their home alarm system and make sure all windows and doors are locked, even if they're gone for a short period of time. Police also said residents can utilize the department's house watch program if they are going to be gone for an extended period of time.
