Red Seal's Provenance Project Approved in Northbrook

Major hurdle in quest to cut golf course in half cleared.

A major hurdle in Red Seal Development’s quest to turn half of the Mission Hills Country Club into a 137-unit planned development has been cleared.

The Village of Northbrook trustees have their approval to the project planned in unincorporated Cook County by a 5-1 vote at a meeting last week, according to the Daily North Shore.

Provenance - the name of the development - has come under fierce scrutiny from groups who support preserving open lands and residents nearby. The plan to add 82 townhomes, 34 duplex units and 21 single family homes includes cutting the golf course in half from 18 holes to nine.

Trustee James Karagianis provided the lone vote against the project at 3900 Techny Road. The other trustees agreed to the subdivision agreement, final subdivision plat and all requested subdivision code variations, a village memo stated.

But Red Seal still has more approvals to get. From the village of Glenview, the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the resolution of ongoing litigation between them and Mission Hills’ homeowners.
