NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Jorge Dominguez, 56, of the 1000 block of Cove Drive, Prospect Heights, is accused of speeding, failure to signal lane change, felony driving while license revoked, and was arrested at 1:01 a.m. Jan. 12, at Sanders and Willow roads. A court date of Jan. 21 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

UNLAWFUL USE OF CREDIT CARD

A person called police at 1:25 Jan. 7, to report someone made several purchases on their credit card account at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, without their permission.

BATTERY

A ride-share driver reported at 1:55 a.m. Jan. 8, they made a pickup of a rider with a destination in the 2400 block of The Strand. When the driver arrived at the specific location, the rider, who ordered the ride-share, would not exit the vehicle. The driver opened a rear door and the rider began pushing, punching and kicking the complainant. Complainant was able to get back in their vehicle and departed the location. The person that was dropped off by the complainant was contacted and issued a local ordinance citation.

DOG PROBLEM

A food delivery person called police on Jan. 8 to report they delivered a food order to a resident in the 2500 block of Jasper Lane. When the resident opened the front door, their dog leaped toward them, causing them to fall back on the ground. The dog then was biting the complainant’s leg but did not cause any injury. Resident was able to take control of their dog and complainant left the area.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE

  • A resident in the 2600 block of Prince Street reported on Jan. 7 that between 8 a.m. and noon, a construction contractor caused damage to the latch on their gate. The contractor was placing flags for utility work in the area.
  • A person called police at 2:32 p.m. Jan. 13, to report someone caused damage to various sprinkler and lighting systems in a subdivision located at Dundee Road and Torrey Pines Parkway.

FORGERY

A Dundee Road resident reported at 11:17 a.m. Jan. 10, they were contacted by their bank regarding three checks that appeared to have forged signatures. Complainant reviewed the checks and verified that they were not authorized signatures.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 4300 block of Terri-Lyn Lane called police at 2:37 p.m. Jan. 1o, to report when they returned home and found that the front door had been forced open. Officers searched the residence and found several rooms ransacked, with various items reported missing. Detectives will be continuing the investigation.

THEFT OF LOST/MISLAID PROPERTY

A customer reported at 7:15 p.m. Jan. 10, they unknowingly left their wallet at Potbelly, 900 block of Willow Road. Complainant was notified by their bank that their credit cards had been used at several locations without permission after the wallet was found to be missing.

THEFT

An employee called police at noon Jan. 11, to report someone took one of the hockey goal nets from the Meadowhill Park, 1400 block of Maple Avenue, without permission.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Dauphine Avenue resident reported at 6:03 a.m. Jan. 12, someone cashed two fraudulent checks against their bank account.
  • A Voltz Road resident called police at noon Jan. 13, to report they received a telephone call from someone claiming to represent Medicare. The complainant said they had provided their Medicare ID number, then became suspicious and ended the call.

COMPUTER FRAUD

An employee of BKI Recycling, 600 block of Academy Drive, reported that between Dec. 10 and Jan. 12, someone hacked into the company’s computer account and created fake invoices to a customer.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at DSW Shoe Warehouse called police at 2:54 p.m. Jan. 12, to report two men removed a pair of men’s boots from the store without paying for the items.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A person reported that between Jan. 2 and Jan. 13 someone removed the catalytic converter on one of their parked vehicles at Sanimar Decor Studio, 300 block of Melvin Drive.

HARASSMENT

A Greenview Road resident reported at 4:07 p.m. Jan. 13, a known person from out of state had made several threats to discredit their company not only to the complainant, but also several of their co-workers.
