Woman Uses Stroller To Conceal Stolen Items At Nordstrom: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Hatim Najjar, 45, is accused of driving with a suspended driver's license, speeding, and was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Dec. 30, in the 1100 block of Landwehr Road. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Jan. 28.
  • Hector R. Montes, 37, is accused of driving with a suspended driver's license, expired registration, no insurance, and was arrested at 10:22 p.m. Jan. 3, at Dundee and Oakleaf roads. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Feb. 16.
  • Castillo JUan Barrera, 26, of the 2400 block of N. Loreal Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, speeding, open alcohol, and was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Jan. 5, in the 1900 block of Techny Road. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Feb. 16.

Megan Lair, 22, of the 200 block of E. Parkland Drive, Island Lake, is accused of aggravated speeding, no insurance, illegal transport of cannabis, and was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Dec. 30, in the 1500 block of Dundee Road. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Feb. 16.

Vladyslav V. Pobyegayev, 28, of the 1000 block of Inverray Lane, Deerfield, is accused of driving under the influence, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 4:17 a.m. Jan. 1, in the 3400 block of Dundee Road. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Feb. 16.

INCIDENTS

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

An Enfield Drive resident reported at 4:28 p.m. Dec 29, they were scheduled to receive a check payment from a business. The complainant said they checked with the sender, who claimed that the payment was sent to the complainant on Dec. 3, 2021, and according to their bank showed being cashed on Dec. 20, 2021. The complainant was given information for identity theft reporting.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

An officer on patrol at 2:54 a.m. Jan 1, found two cars with their catalytic converters stolen in the parking lot of Lewis Floor & Home, 1800 block of Skokie Boulevard. The owner said the vehicles had last been used on Dec. 30, 2021.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of Best Buy, 1000 block of Willow Road, called police at 4:48 p.m. Jan. 1, to report two men stole two MacBook Pro computers from the store without paying for the items.
  • An employee of Nordstrom Rack, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 6:51 p.m. Jan. 3, they saw a woman conceal several items in a large bag and in the cargo carrying area of a stroller. The employee said they stopped the woman after she had left the store. She was issued a local ordinance citation for the theft.

IDENTITY THEFT

An Illinois Road resident reported at 8:56 a.m. Jan. 3, someone used their information to obtain a loan without their permission.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO AUTO

A person called police Jan. 3 to report that between 6 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 3, someone caused damage to the front license plate area of their parked vehicle at Lowe's, 1000 block of Willow Road.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

A person reported at 2:07 p.m. Jan. 4, someone placed new graffiti on playground equipment at Greenview Park, 2400 block of Greenview Road.

THEFT

  • A contractor called police at 1:31 p.m. Jan. 5, to report they found a large piece of work equipment was missing at Highland Baking, 2300 block of Shermer Road.
  • A Plum Island Drive resident reported at 1:40 p.m. Jan. 6, they agreed with someone to purchase a dog through an internet site. Complainant said that once payment was completed through their bank, they have had no further response or contact from the subject.
