NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

RECKLESS DRIVING

Alicia Nunez, 22, of the 500 block of Wimbledon, Prospect Heights, is accused of reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, failure to notify, no insurance, and was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Jan. 8 in the 30 block of Skokie Boulevard. Officers responded to the area regarding a road rage incident and property damage crash. Nunez was identified as the driver of a vehicle which intentionally struck two other vehicles. She was released after posting $2,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Feb. 8.

REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Janneth G. Castellanos, 19, of the 600 block of S Elmwood Avenue, Waukegan, is accused of driving with a revoked driver's license, and was arrested at 3:19 p.m. Jan. 8 in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. An officer had responded to the area regarding a minor traffic crash. She was released after posting $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of March 10.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident in the 1300 block of Edgewood Lane reported at 7:26 a.m. Jan. 8 that someone entered their open garage during the overnight hours and took their car without permission. The complainant stated that the keys were inside the vehicle.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Foxglove Drive resident reported at 10:24 a.m. Jan. 9 that someone used their information to apply for a loan through the small business administration without their permission.
  • Officers took phone reports from 26 complainants who received notifications from either their employers or the Illinois Department of Employment Security that their information was used to apply for benefits without their permission.
  • A Commercial Avenue resident reported at 1:33 p.m. Jan. 13 someone used their information to collect income from several companies in Florida without their knowledge.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TO AUTOMOBILE
A resident in the 500 block of Voltz Road called police at 3:22 a.m. Jan. 8 to report they were informed by a neighbor that a male was observed walking up to their vehicle and trying the passenger side door handle of their parked vehicle. Nothing known was taken.

DISPUTE
An employee at the Techny Post Office, 2000 block of Waukegan Road, reported at 11:36 a.m. Jan. 9 that a customer became upset about issues they were having with their P.O. Box. Due to several issues with the customer, they were asked not to return to the branch.

THEFT

  • A person called police at 1:39 p.m. Jan. 10 to report that they had left their jacket in a common area under chairs in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. The complainant stated that when they returned to where it was left, they found that someone had removed the jacket.
  • A citizen reported at 8:10 a.m. Jan. 12 that a purse was taken without permission while they were attending an appointment in the 1100 block of Techny Road.
  • A resident in the 2400 block of Illinois Road called police at 9 a.m. Jan. 14 to report someone removed a sign from their front yard without permission.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at BP, 1900 block of Willow Road, reported at 2:28 a.m. Jan. 11 that a male in their 20s removed two cases of beer from the store without paying for them.
  • An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, called police at 5:39 p.m. Jan. 12 to report that a man and woman entered the store, filled a basket with merchandise then left the store without paying for the merchandise.

ARMED ROBBERY

A woman called police at 8:27 p.m. Jan. 11 to report that they were walking to their car after shopping at Neiman Marcus in Northbrook Court, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road, when three to four men in an SUV-type vehicle pulled up and two exited the vehicle. One man pointed a pistol at the woman and ordered her to give them all of their belongings. The woman was then knocked to the ground and struck. The complainant’s purse was taken before the men fled in the SUV. The woman said the men were wearing surgical masks. The woman suffered minor injuries, but was not hospitalized. THREATENING TELEPHONE MESSAGE

A person in the 400 block of Skokie Boulevard called police on Jan. 11 to report they received a threatening voicemail from a former employee regarding their termination.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A Sussex Drive resident reported on Jan. 13 that after leaving a negative review for a service rendered on a website they received a message which they perceived as threatening from the subject of the review.
