School Arson Fire Extinguishes; Man Steals Perfume: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Abigail A. Guy, 30, of the 3000 block of N Oketo Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol or an intoxicating compound, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 9:20 p.m. July 23 at Skokie Boulevard and Lake Cook Road. She was released after posting a $1,000 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 23.

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Lemont D. Clinkscales-Hank, 23, of the 1400 block of W 21st Street, Chicago, is accused of driving with a suspended license, speeding, and was arrested at 10:42 p.m. July 26 at Dundee and Pfingsten roads. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of July 26.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident in the 700 block of York reported at 4:35 a.m. July 23 someone took their unlocked vehicle from their driveway during the overnight hours without their permission. Complainant stated that the keys were inside the vehicle when it was taken.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A resident in the 2000 block of Maple Avenue called police at 4:41 a.m. July 23 to report someone shattered their kitchen window and damaged their back door.
  • An employee at Westcott School, 1800 block of Western Avenue reported at 10:07 a.m. July 26 someone climbed on the roof and defaced a new air conditioning unit.

TRESPASS TO VEHICLE

A resident in the 2000 block of Maple Avenue reported at 10:16 a.m. July 23 someone entered their vehicle during the overnight hours and rummaged through the glove box. Nothing was known taken.

THREATS

An employee of a business in the 400 block of Huehl called police at 10:33 a.m. July 23 to report an employee became agitated during a meeting and threatened the complainant.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 6:17 p.m. July 24 that a male wearing a mask, removed numerous bottles of perfume from the store without paying for the items.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

An officer found new graffiti at 12:55 a.m. July 27 at Sled Hill, 1700 block of Techny Road.

ARSON

An employee at Wescott School, 1800 block of Western, reported at 7:37 a.m. July 27, someone gained access to the roof area where construction was being done and started a small fire that extinguished before spreading. Investigation is continuing.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

A Dundee Road resident called police at 5 p.m. July 27 to report they were attempting to get information regarding a flight that they had booked with an airline. The wait time was going to be an extended period of time and they left a contact number to be reached at. Complainant said that they received a call back from an unknown male who requested personal information then instructed the complainant to purchase $1,000 in “Google Play Cards.” The complainant did as instructed, then realized that this was a scam.

SUSPICIOUS TELEPHONE CALLS

A Brittany Court resident reported at 3:17 p.m. July 28 that they have received numerous calls from unknown people claiming that they have won multiple items that they believe is a scam.
